Several military recruits in boot camp develop a diarrheal illness characterized by intense cramping accompanied by the sudden urge to have a bowel movement. They say that the diarrhea is initially profuse and then progresses to the painful passage of blood-stained diarrhea. Fecal examination is positive for blood and pus. Some of the recruits have a low-grade fever. Which of the following is the most likely causal organism?
A Helicobacter
B Salmonella
C Shigella
D Vibrio
E Yersinia

When ever I hear "shigella", I think man that patient is really having a bad time taking a s--t ---> bloody diarrhea

Sounds funny, but it works.
