Hey Everyone,
I have been studying from the decks lately for pat 1 but I am just finding them kind of difficult to study from cuz i am the kind of person who uses lots of highlighting colors and side notes when studying and the deck just don't give me the "space" to do that, they FULLY load up each card with info so no space is left for anything else, i thought of using an outside notebook for separate nots, but rewriting things would just take up too much time

So, i am thinking of studying the Board busters instead of decks just because its in a book format much easier to deal with, I heard board busters has the same exact info as decks but I am not sure how true is that. So before i switch to busters, i just want to know if it is indeed true that busters has the same info as decks because i don't want to sacrifice the quality, and I only have time to study from 1 source....

FYI: my d-school GPA isn't the greatest, I have a low C GPA so I think I will need a LOT of work to pass the boards. ( I have decided to study for 2 mnths and 10 days)

So, for someone my level would u think switching from the decks to Board busters is a wise step?????

everyone is using decks to pass that's why i am so hesitant to switch....

I would really appreciate ur advices
thanks and good luck to everyone

I have not gotten my results back yet, but I used Board Busters. I also skimmed the decks.
Here is my observation from both:
Decks: very wordy, not exactly organized, small type, if you get the cards out of
order you spend like 3 hours trying to reorganize them.. If you are
missing a card or two that could mean an entire concept lost..
Pros of decks: good way to quiz yourself AFTER you have a foundation
Board Busters: is a combination of the decks and old exam questions. It's organized and easy to carry around. I personally was not a straight A student.. and I also am a really bad test taker, so this book
literally saved me. I read it twice ( takes over a month to do this) and after I did that,
I went through all the decks in a few days.. I was really happy to see that I could answer many of the
questions from the decks after reading board busters.
Minuses of using just busters is no pictures... So get the decks for clinical images and examples
of how cases go.

I'm going to post after I get my results back. Advice I'd give my Mother is she was to
take the exam is this: it's easier then part one, but don't underestimate it. If you got a 75 on
Part I, it will be hard to pass part II. You gave to score much higher to pass overall percentage wise on part II.. My good pal failed and he got a 78 on part I with a 61 percent correct and he got a 63.8 on part II and failed with a 74. I really hope it goes well for me, but also for everyone that is
having the same anxiety and studying endless hours to get to the ultimate goal.
So, yes, Board Busters is great. Know it well.
Again, I'll post more after I get results. I also had Mosby's so I'll give further opinions on that book in about a week.. Hopefully sooner : )

I should also mention I used it for part II, not I.

thanks Buddy, helpful advice for part 2, i will consider it for part 2

looks llike no one used busters for part 1???

any more input would help me a bunch
thanks

For the part I, I initially started with the board buster book but I got very confused mid way. The knowledge in it is pretty good but I like to be tested. So I switched over to the Decks.

I dont have the time to go through both but they are both good sources. I guess it just depends on how you learn, being tested or reading through the material.

Hope that helps 🙂

Hi

I used Dental Board busters for both part 1 and 2 and they are really good and compact material.

Not alone, but good to read them.

If you need it, reply me at [email protected] ... tehy are really new without even a marking and I wanna sell them at 25% of retail price.

Hi. 🙂

For those who are planning to take part 1, you need to know the decks by heart.
dental buster's is not enough. I pass part one in Sep. I am very happy!
I liked the blue book from kaplan (dental anatomy) it helped me a lot.
And the release from ADA.
Don't waste your time with to many books. Stick with one or two.

Ready to start studying for part 2.
I have the decks from 2007- 2008. Do you think I need to buy the new ones?
Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks.

Dental decks are good, but they haven't changed significantly in 15 years, and they are bulky (sucks for carrying around). If you like flashcards, I would go with a phone/tablet app. If you need space to write, books are the way to go

hi
do you have the website address for part one?

I just started going through the Board Busters part I book after finishing the latest edition of Dental Decks and I noticed that both of them are the same .
Most of the material in the BB is verbatim the same with the DD I don`t know if they are published by same company but I can say they are almost identical material In two different formats, it all depends what kind of format works for you better,I prefer the BB since i can`t study from flash cards.

I have the Q&A First Aid on the Ipad and I don`t find it helpful at all.

I don`t know any other app someone mentioned that is using it but beside First Aid I don`t know any other.

yes, even i find that both dental decks and board busters have presented the same content. I think it is better to go for either one of them than having both.
