Books for Anesthesia Electives

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
We used "Baby Miller", aka Basics in Anesthesia by Stoelting/Miller. First few chapters are good for the basics at a med student level. Clinical Anesthesiology by Morgan/Mikhail is also a good basic text. Hope that helps.

Grab anesthesia secrets too if you are truely interested in the field. It breaks things down nicely.

It also helps to have a little handbook for the OR's. Grab the Handbook of Anesthesiology, its in the current clinical strategies series. Cost about 15 bucks. It has all all the meds in it, doses, mac's, and provides a brief synopsis of most everything from nerve stimulators to respiratory phys.

Agreed. Handbook is very mobile (little book packed with info). Secrets is a nice read filled with pearls.

Also, what are your thoughts on the newest edition? The new one doesn't seem so "baby" from looking at it on the internet. . .

If you had to pick between Stoelting/Miller and Secrets, which would you suggest?

I would like to know this as well! 😛

Baby Miller will give you a good overview of anesthesia. Screts is a good book to use for a quick review when you are in the OR. Get Baby Miller.
