I thought BR CBT 3 was pretty tough. But, in comparison to CBT 1 and 2, the curve was a bit more generous. The verbal section was very demoralizing. I hate VR.

I got killed on CBT 3 as well. I got a 10/8/8 which was my worst score by far. But IMO its great prep b/c the next test (CBT 4) was my highest score by far: 12/12/11. CBT 3 is supposed to be the killer along with the rest of BR's odd tests. I'm taking CBT 5 today *gasp* so I'm expecting it to be tough as well.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one that Did poorly in verbal. I got
11-12/ 9 / 11-12 But i felt like the curve was way to generous. I thought verbal was ridiculous on this test.

Yeah the curve was a bit more generous...
but the exam itself (Vr and BS) was crazy (at least for me)

Verbal on this test made me sick
I have to admit though I was quite distracted while VR and BS due to a lady who was talking animatedly over the phone in the library😡

I hope to score much much better on the real deal than I did on this exam

So glad to know that am not the only one who didn't do well on BR CBT 3. I have been murdered by GS exams couple of times so BR 3 is not my worse score 🙄

Thanks, and good luck to you tomorrow on CBT 4. I think you'll find it to be quite heavenly compared to CBT 3 (even though I thought I did worse on it, until I actually graded it that is)

I thought BR CBT 4 was better than CBT 3 in terms of difficulty
But for some reason my scores are no where near where I want them to be.:scared:

9 PS (73%)
8 VR (60%)
9 BS (71%)


Idk what to do. I thought my scores would go up today. My exam is on 9/3/10, my scores are all over the place, and am losing confidence. This is my second attempt already and I felt much more prepared than the last time (got a 25 last year). My FL scores are scaring the hell out of me.

Here are my scores from all the FLs I've taken this time:

GS 1: 8 PS 6 VR 9 BS
GS 2: 7 PS 10 VR 7 BS
GS 3: 10 PS 10 BS
GS 4: 8 PS 7 VR 8 BS
BR 1: 10 PS 10-11 VR 11-12 BS
BR 2: 10 PS 8 VR 10 BS
BR 3: 11-12 PS 7 VR 8 BS

I'll be taking my first mcat in sept. so i can't really speak from experience. But the general consensus is that TBR CBT's are pretty difficult, esp. the sciences. My advice would be to spend alot of time going over the FL exams. Heavy post game analysis is key. This helped me improve my ps score from a 10 (just made it by 1 pt) on tbr cbt 1 to a consistent 12 (1 pt away from 13) on tbr 2,3 and 4.

I wouldn't put too much weight on the tbr scores. simply use it as a learning tool. Have you taken any aamc cbts? Since they are better indicators of real mcat performance.

I haven't taken any aamc exams yet. I am taking an exam every other day, do you think that might be the problem?
How much time would you suggest spending going over the exams? Also, I have come accross so many verbal strategies on sdn, that now am completely confused in terms of which one should I stick to (I tried 3 different strategies and they seem to work in the begining, but then don't work well later on for me).

Reviewing an exam varies. But it usually takes me half a day on average. I go over every question, even the ones i answered correctly. As far as verbal goes, I'm in the same boat since my scores are all over the place. Im still trying to figure out a strategy that works for me. I would suggest picking up ek101 for extra verbal practice.

I do go over all the questions but I believe I should spend more time reviewing my exams. Thanks for the suggesstion.

I used EK verbal last year 🙁
Using TPRH verbal now.

is there a mistake with passage number 3 in tbr bio test 3. OK I just now noticed that my tables 2 and 3 are the same. Can someone please post the tables in this passage??

Your advice is right on the mark. The benefit of any practice test is the review afterwards, where you fill in informational gaps, find correctably careless errors, and develop your test strategies.

Can you please explain number 32 on BR test 3 passage 5?

The highest final temperature after reaction would be observed in which of the following mixtures?
100 mL 1.0 M KOH + 50 mL 2.0 M HCl

You're looking for the most exothermic reaction in the lowest volume of fluid.

The eqaution of choice is Q = mCdeltaT

The greatest deltaT results from the largest Q/m ratio (assuming C is roughly the same for all four choices).

The Q is found from the moles of reaction:
Choice A is 100 mmoles OH- with 100 mmoles H+ = 100 mmoles reaction
Choice B is 200 mmoles OH- with 200 mmoles H+ = 200 mmoles reaction
Choice C is 100 mmoles OH- with 300 mmoles H+ = 100 mmoles reaction
Choice D is 100 mmoles OH- with 100 mmoles H+ = 100 mmoles reaction

The mL is found from the sum of the two volumes:
Choice A is 100 mL + 50 mL = 150 mL
Choice B is 100 mL + 100 mL = 200 mL
Choice C is 100 mL + 300 mL = 400 mL
Choice D is 100 mL + 200 mL = 300 mL

Choice B has the greatest ratio of 200/200.

This is the most intuitive way to attack the math.

Wow I just did CBT 4, 10,11-12, 9, and I thought the bio section was absolutely killer. I felt this was alot tougher than CBT 3. Haven't reviewed yet, but i felt like i was guessing on alot of the passages. killed my confidence after scoring a 36 on aamc 4 (a retake, but I never reviewed it after i took it, and it was 8 months ago). I'm getting scared for the sep-3. I just want a 30 😱

The 3 questions that I don't get from this passage are
1. What must the wave analysis component in a radar gun take into account in order to determine a car's speed from ∆f?
A: The Doppler shift due to the motion of the car
2. Does a radar gun give the same results during the day as it does at night?
A: No, because the index of refraction for air is usually greater at night.
3. A reference beam is a necessary part of a radar gun because:
A: it produces beats that establish the speed of a car.

this would be the fastest...
so what's the actual answer?
B. Polar solute; polar solvent; nonpolar adsorbent
C.Nonpolar solute; nonpolar solvent; nonpolar adsorbent
D.Nonpolar solute; polar solvent; polar adsorbent

The reaction of a strong acid with a strong base is exothermic, and all of the answer choices list the same reaction. Because the heat is based on moles of reaction, we can use mole ratios to get the heat ratios.

The best advice is to think of an analogy that makes sense to you. Instead of a radar gun, what if someone in the car was yelling? Would the sound of their voice differ if the car was going faster? It would because of the Doppler effect.

The index of refraction is a fancy way of saying speed of light. The speed of light changes at night, because air gets denser when it gets colder.

In most any experiment, you need a reference of some sort. If I want to know if a wave was Doppler shifted, then I want to compare it side-by-side with an unaffected wave. The two waves would have different frequencies, so there would be a beat frequency.

If the plate is polar and the solute is polar, then it will stick to the plate. This is further impacted by the non-polar solvent, which won't pull the solute up the plate. The choice A combination likely won't move, which makes it the slowest.

The question is asking for the slowest, right? I don't have access to the exams right now, so I'll go by what you typed.

But how do you know that if the air is denser, then it has a higher refraction index? I the only formula for refraction index that I know is n = c/v where v is velocity of medium and c is the speed of light

If you know that the speed of light in air is faster than the speed of light in water, you can deduce that it has to do with the density of the medium and the resistance experienced by a transverse wave working it's way though the medium. While you are absolutely correct when comparing two different mediums that you should compare their n values, this question is centered around the same medium, but at a different temperature (and thus a different density). We luck out in that we can make an educated guess as to the impact on n associated with a temperature change. It's a reasonable assumption that as the density of a medium increases, it will offer more resistance to transverse waves propgataing through it, and thus lower the wave speed.

You should keep in mind that the opposite is generally true for sound waves, which are longitudinal waves.

Hey guys,

On Q 96, the right answer is A with the reasoning that S has 1 lone pair and therefore makes for a aromatic ring, but looking at how its drawn(i.e. 2 bonds) doesn't S have 2 lone pairs and therefore its not aromatic? Not sure what I am missing here. Help?

Yeah, S has 2 lone pairs, but you only count 1 of the lone pairs. Whenever you have 2 lone pairs, you never count both of them for aromaticity. For this CBT 3, is the scale for the PS section really 40-52 to get a 13+? that seems really lenient, or maybe it was just the difficulty. however, the verbal for this test was pretty tough imo.

Thanks! Do you why we dont count the 2nd pair?
Yes, thats the scale I have, I hope it factors in the difficulty, curve etc and is not too lenient.I am skipping the tbr verbal and using EK101 but the bio really goto me on this.

Im not really sure why you dont, but I think it has to do with resonance. Like you never would donate both pairs of elections in resonance, only one. So you only would count 1 pair.
