Caveat: I've never been to this hospital and I know nothing specific about their IM program.

As a native New Yorker, what I can tell you is that the hospital is located in Brownsville, one of the most crime-ridden neighborhoods in Brooklyn. I have heard the place is underfunded to the point of falling apart. The only plus is that you would be helping an underserved community.

I've rotated there before. Its definitely an under served population in a hospital with a lot of problems. The ancillary staff is poor to non-existent. I think the one highlight of the IM program there is they do have an interventional cath lab that is pretty busy.

thank you for the input guys... any other opinions would really be appreciated...

I've rotated at Brookdale, and its true what they say - the place is a dump. Don't go there unless you absolutely have to. That said, I agree that their interventional cards is very solid. I've worked with their director of cardiology and he's a very nice knowledgable guy. It'd probably be ok if you go here for fellowship.

Thank you so much for your reply. Do they have cardiology fellowship in house?
