More people tend to see orgo as hard and thus the sections with more orgo seem harder. But for me, the more orgo the section has, the better it is. I mean then if the exam has less orgo, it would be easier for more people and thus the curve is gona be harsher. I'm the opposite. I love orgo and I want more orgo passages in my section. In my section in MCAT, I had one orgo passage only!!!!! and only 2 orgo discretes the rest are bio. I think it's not fair, they should make equal amount of passages to really make it fair for everyone. Orgo became popular for difficulty so people tend to be more scared of it and actually not good at it. But this is not my case.

Are you serious right now? Let say ochem is not useful in medical school but you think it's not useful in life? Come on now you gotta be joking. Then how do they synthesize all these drugs and medicines? Without organic chemistry? Don't be ignorant right now. Nothing is ever useless or otherwise they wouldn't teach it in life or care about it.

Organic chemistry is even less important in "life" than in medical school. This entire thread boils down into you being super butthurt that your favorite science isn't sitting everywhere on a pedestal.

This thread has become way silly, but I want to post in here anyway.
I took the 8/23 test, and there was very little Orgo. I found the bio components of the test to be extremely, almost unnervingly easy. What's more, I found the few Orgo questions to be on relatively obscure reactions that hadn't been emphasized in the aamc tests (I was doing fairly well on organic questions, so I didn't devote that much time to outside studying). I'm worried that the curve is going to come down to performance on a handful of toughies, which isn't a great feeling as I sit here waiting.
I was also disappointed to realize that 8/23 results are scheduled for release on 9/27, which makes for a 35 day cruel and unusual wait!!!!!!
It would be wrong to say that organic isn't relevant to "life." However, it's probably only pertinent to actual organic chemists, who design the drugs and products that make our world go 'round. It probably won't be very topical to most people, including physicians and medical students, but it constitutes another hoop to jump through, and these hoops are sadly necessary when there are a limited number of med school spots.
Organic is awesome. One of my professors demanded that we view it as a life enriching liberal arts course rather than a pre-professional hoop, and it's a body of knowledge I'm very glad to have. I love pretending I can visualize compounds when I read food and drug labels.
