I am doing research, getting ready for my BU interview in a couple of weeks. I was wondering what the housing situation was like if you decide not to live in a crowded area in the middle of Boston. I am traveling up to interview with my wife and it would be great if we could see some of the potential neighborhoods as part of our visit before we go back to Philly. Can any of you Boston people help me out here?

i'm at BU right now and if you are wanting a "non-crowded area" then you should prepare for an hour commute at a minimum. there's no subway line that comes close to BUMC so you're going to have to ride 1 or 2 subway lines then get on a bus to come to campus. there are people that live further out...i know of one girl who commute an hour and a half each way. personally, i couldn't do it. what free time i do have, i'd rather spend working out or enjoying boston...not commuting home.

good luck with the interview and housing search. if you get into BU give yourself as long as possible to find a place to stay. seems like the more patient you are the better luck you have in finding a place. don't use a realtor....you'll just be out a couple grand if you do.
