hi guys i have updated my scores -
nbde part 1 - 89 (sep 2009)
gpa/toefl - 3.1/ 114
degrees - bds , mds (orthodontics)
experience - 1.5 yrs as consultant orthodontist in india
research work and intenational/national paper paperpresentaions
uni applied - umn,usc,uthscsa,bu and upenn
rejected - umn
not heard from - upenn,bu,uthscsa,usc

so am a lil concerned about my chances, wht are my prospects? need advice

well i received it on the 5th of october.........n i hd completed my application on the 3rd of september........dnt worry...hv faith......🙂

Your concerns are reasonable, I think that we cannot generalize the events basing on what it was like last year. You did your best in every part from performing in the exam to applying early, now you have to continue to do your best at the interview you need to show your confidence and optimism at the interview. we never know things might be just different this year, be positive and try to avoid distracting yourself with the negative thoughts. god will be in your favor, believe in yourself, confidence plays a greater role at the interview more than any thing good luck.

Your stats are really good, ur masters will be an added advantage, I have gone through the list of universities u have applied. My personal opinion is that the more the number of seats at a particular university, the greater your chances. Bu has around 70-75 and you definitely stand a good chance at Bu. To be on the safe side it will not be a bad idea to apply to NYU as you might end up spending a few more dollars for the application for a 125 seats more. Good luck.

thanx lotz🙂...well i have kept my fingers crossed.........n i wanna ask one more question..i have'nt received my degree certificate as yet, so is it really going to pose a hindrance during the admissions{in nyu}?i hv submitted the notarised copy of my provisional certificate.i knw its compulsory bt do i still stand a chance?

You are welcome and again let me reinstate my point. My experience says that if some thing did not work out for somebody it does not mean that it will not work out for you. No battle is complete till the last shot, so it is too early to consider what if this happens, if you do your best at the interview they should not want to loose you. Just consider things that will boost your confidence and make you a better performer at the interview. Good luck.

My only reason for suggesting you to apply to NYU is to play safe and you will have one more to choose from when you get the acceptance. I am sure your optimism will earn you fruits shortly. I got the invitation day before yesterday and my application was complete around (application fee paid email) on sep 29

i am not sure how they handle the inquiries, but you can always try to inquire and see what they have to say. did u get ur application fee paid/ application under review email?

Yes i got the application fee paid and review email on sep 10. I'm kinda worried now.
I did enquire and they are saying my application is still under review.

hi dont worry ur stats are good u wil make it and i also suggest u cal mrkahan and ask him ur status, i am in the same boat as yours and did the same. i think that will help u and stay positive it wil happen and ur hard work wil bear fruits soon

Me too in the same boat. My stats are 92/107/3.15.
No work exp in US, 3+ years back home.
Till now rejection from UMN. I'm really worried now.

I submitted my application and paid my fee to BU on October 2nd. I had received the application completion mail about 20 days ago. Yesterday, I got another mail telling me that my application was under review.

Today I got an interview call from BU for the 14th of JAN. Is anyone coming on the 14th of Jan as well?

i think that if ur stats other than work exp are strong then u have all the chance in the world.....anyways BU looks more into part 1 scores....atleast thatz wat i have heard......best of luck....u will get in somewhere

Did u get email wid applicatn compltd??? Coz aftr tht only ,u will receive applicatn under review email........

I appreciate your optimism. According what I heard they have interviews till march but the earlier you apply the better you have a chance or to put it this way after jan15th people with scores in 90s will be competing with you and after feb even if u get a 92 you will be competing with people with the same or a higher score.To play safe better get done with your exam soon and apply early.
