BU March Decisions?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Hello everyone,

This is my first post...but I've been lurking on this thread for a while since BU is my first choice. I just called the admissions office about 10 minutes ago and they said that everything will be out by TOMORROW 🙁 .

She also did say that you should watch out for both email and snail mail as you could get an answer via either one (although she didn't specify that ONLY rejections would be send email, etc....she just said to keep an eye on both).

😱 😱 😱 😱 😱

WHAT THE?!?!?!? I was banking on today. what is the dilio yo????? (where's the crying emoticon when you need one?!?!?!?! 🙁🙁🙁🙁)

This is ridiculous! Why can't they just email everyone or change the status page? I don't need all the flowery congratulations or prose about how much they regret not being able to offer me admission.

It would be the most fair. Everyone can find out at the same time. No waiting for letters to get flown across the country. No some people get calls emails from their interviewers early while others are left hanging.

Grr. Sorry guys I'm just venting.

GMSers: I'm so tempted just to drop in the Admissions office and kindly ask for my letter!

someone should complain to Witzburg then. tell him its really not fair for some people to find out yesterday (Wednesday), while others across the country have to wait until Monday if the mail is just going out tomorrow. tell him that's not cool at all. although i'm not sure if i'm brave enough until i get my decision first (make sure i dont piss him off if i end up on the small waitlist)

Maybe we should keep track of the people who got notified either by email or by phone...

It's already like 4 on the east coast... its getting scarier... :scared: I didn't expect them to literally wait till the last day of the month.

do it Thayer!!! 👍

do it Thayer!!! 👍

I couldn't do it! I left the lab and walked to the med school instead of just going home. One minute ago I was standing right outside the Admissions office door peering in. I couldn't go through with it. I couldn't bring myself to turn the knob.

  wow, i can't believe you actually made an attempt!! if you did march in there demanding a letter, we would have been rooting you here!!! hahaha

i dont think today is the day either.

i'm starting to think early next week will be more realistic for these guys. jeez.. i feel like they aren't taking us too seriously. 👎

We all need to have a drink together tonight but unfortunately I'm in new jersey 🙁

What are you gonna say if you get a call?? I might just spike the phone into the dirt and do my victory dance.

Last night, I dreamt of a rejection... so I woke up to check my email.. 5:30AM PT. Didn't see anything, went back to sleep. 30 minutes later... dreamt I got an email from my interviewer... but nothing. Since then I've take 30 minute naps.. checking this forum everytime I wake up. HAHAHA

Call me crazy, but I don't think any of the people that posted an acceptance are too credible...

I will not be surprised if we don't hear till next week.

Is it just me... or do you freak out everytime you see a new email come in, or when your phone rings... my moms called me like 3 times since yesterday... and everytime I kinda get angry cuz I hope its good news... HAHA

People have been accepted. I know of one personally.

Me on the other hand, I wait... and slowly go (more) insane.

I actually just e-mailed the guy that interviewed me, to see if he could give me any sort of a hint… so I'll see how that turns out.

Word on the street is there were around 20 GMS people accepted this round (added to 17 from the first round). I only know of one that has been notified though

the interviewers will probably hate me for posting this, but emailing the interviewer = instant feedback at least it worked for me. Good luck everyone

What your interviewer say?

-I interviewed with Dr. Nila Radhakrishnan.
-Interview Date: 2/9/07
-Date of Call: 3/29/07
-Time of Call: 4:14 pm
-I'm a normal student, not a GMS or anything like that.
-All she said was that good news is coming in the mail (didn't say when), and that I can call and talk to her when I get it.

Good Luck to you all!!

I got accepted

Yeah Congrats! Thanks for updating us!

so 17-1= 16 (one already notified)
16-1=15 ( cause csujon got the good news 🙂 )

...still plenty of GMS slots for sendwich, patton, me, johara, jeepney and...(who else is GMS on this thread?)

GMS as well. 2nd year.

Thanks thayer and DrCurious, and good luck to everyone especially the GMS'ers.

Funny, I got a call today from Nila at 4:13 pm.

congrats to everyone who's gotten in.

anyone else here had Alan Fujii as their interviewer?

btw, anyone know how good/bad BU's financial aid is for meeting need and/or giving scholarships/grants?

Congrats to everyone who got in so far! Thanks to everyone who is taking (or attempting to take 🙂 Thayer!!!) the initiative that I lack.

Last night was the pits. I think I had dreams about all possible outcomes. Looks like one more sleepless night ahead.... but hopefully the last!!!

I just got the call from Dr. Feinberg! I got in. Wow, I am SO excited.

Good luck to everyone! :luck: :luck: :luck:

Yay Congrats! 🙂 I hope everyone else hears something soon. I am starting to think that no news does NOT equal good news.

Not necessarily. CSUJON had to email his interviewer before he found out, for all we know his interviewer was not planning on notifying anyone.

Agreed... I've gotten 3 phone calls today... none of them what I wanted...

Anyone here interview with Dr. Dorfman?? I just want to know if he had called anyone today...

oh crap. oh CRAP!!!!

Oh Crap what?? Did you hear too? How many more GMS spots are left now? ANyone tallying this?

Congrats Malla! That's such a pleasant turn of events. I know you thought you'd hear late cause the post takes so long to get to where you are. But here you are, one of the first to know! And it's well deserved. 🙂

Anybody hear from / know anything about Dr. Michael Holick?

Congrats to all those that got in.

He was my interviewer. I haven't heard from him either.

My interview was a bit less than stellar...

He also doesn't seem like the kind of interviewer who would contact his applicants which is why I haven't copied csujon and tried to email him.

Anyone hear from Dr. Susan Phillips?

okay, so i took a breath, tempted fate and emailed my interviewer asking him what my decision was (citing that Witzburg and many others have already called dozens of students). cross fingers!

so tomorrow must be the day for the rest of us, or at least I sincerely hope so, anymore waiting may drive me insane.

Tell us how it turns out, good luck :luck: :luck: :luck:

I have been trying to build up the courage to do so myself.

I also got this exact vibe.

My interview with him was interesting. He tried to tell me that the nickel ion exchange I used to purify proteins in my research worked because the histidines I put on the proteins were NEGATIVELY charged....😱 Histidine is NEVER negatively charged in physiological conditions! The freaking nitrogens in the histidine chelate to the nickel, but it isn't negative.

I didn't know what to do. I tried to resist him, but he insisted he was right, so I let it go. Later I wrote him an email with 3 paragraphs of foreplay and one that stated how I may have "misrepresented" something regarding my research, and proceeded to tactfully explain that it is simply chelation and not a charged interraction.

Kinda went on a tangent, but yeah....I don't think he'll try to contact me either. He almost seemed disinterested with me throughout the whole interview. At least I nailed the ethical questions I think. I just hope this whole fiasco didn't leave the wrong impression:scared: .
