hey everyone.
first of all.
CONGRATS to those who got accepted already! 👍

could someone tell me if there's only ONE date for regional interviews? or a few? and did anyone do a BU interview in toronto last yr? if so, when was it?

cuz i need to call temple up for jan interviews (i can't in their dec ones, cuz i have finals) but i don't want to until i know the date for the BU one (since i'm assuming it's LESS flexible, after all they are coming to ME).

it wouldn't sound bad if i emailed BU to ask right? and say that i need to schedule another interview, and i'd like to work around the BU on...?

am i making any sense?... 😕 i haven't slept much this week 😱

Last year, BU regional interviews in Toronto were on the weekend of Jan. 25-26

BU said in their initially email, inviting me for a regional interview

"More information will be forthcoming about the details of the time, date, and specific location of the interview up to a week before the interview"

Do you think they would mind me asking them when it is NOW? Should I give a reason i.e. cuz i need to call Temple to arrange for an interview, and i don't want them falling on the same day!

Thanks :luck:

If I was you, I would avoid the regional interview. It does not show your best interest to the school. At my interview, I ended up spending most of my time convincing the interviewer that I did want to go there if accepted.

but i'm a STUDENtttttttttttttt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
my a$$ sadly doesn't $h!t out money!!! 😳

i know - definately - that goin to regionals doesn't show the best interest...but march is TOO FAR away (if i were to do it @ the d-shcool)!!

thanks for yoru input though!

If a school is willing to hold regional interviews, my guess is that they would not penalize you for it. WHy offer it? As a test to see who is really interested in thier school? I think they understand the financial burden interviews place on students. Also, I think schools like BU understand that they attract students from across the US and Canada and therefore, they are willing to accomidate them. Just my opinion.

Ideally, it would be best for the student to actually see the school, so that she/he can make a more informed decision. However, like so many of us, money is tight and if a regional comes my way, I would take it!

dude...I wouldnt delay interviews cause you have no money or u have to study for exams....the longer you wait, the more you will regret it later when you find out that everything is full and u have to wait ANOTHER YEAR to apply.....remember if you get accepted, you only need to get C's to keep the spot....so I wouldnt worry about your exams coming up. I would call your schools right away and try and schedule an interview ASAP!

and about the money...the few hundred dollars you spend on each interview will pale in comparison to the thousands of dollars you are about to spend on education.....dont let lack of money come into the equation....your interviews are the most important thing at the moment....more imporant than your current grades or your bank account....dont keep on putting it off...

BU does regional interviews because they need to attract and accomodate the people with good stats that will keep their school looking good and willing to pay the enormous tuition costs....where can you find these people? Well the hardest places to get accepted to dental school is in Canada and California meaning that after all their dental schools are full, there are still a lot of highly qualified applicants that need a spot and must look elsewhere.....so where does BU do their regional interviews? YOu guessed it!

well i'm taking whatever i can get EARLY..and taht would mean BU intereview in TORONTO in jan, as oppose to in boston in march!..it's not JUST about the money

also, the temple interview dates availabe were either a day b4 my final - so i would miss my final..or FLANKING my finals..so i would miss 2 finals.
i understand nothing really matters but the interview @ this stage..but i can't exactly miss a final and write a makeup with the excuse that i wanted to go for an interview AND that would ALSO delay my "hopefully" stellar 4th yr grades that i will need to update in jan! so that i can get more interviews (something i'm lacking right now).

thanks.

Does anybody know if the texas regional date is still open, or do you think january is still early. Should I try and see if the regional spot is open. Or am I worrying wayy tooo much.

thanks HD

if you look at the canceled interview thread, some people are canceling their interview at bu. so contact them see if you can move it up

i emailed Liane Weber @ BU and she didn't tell me ANYTHING NEW..she simply wrote verbatim:

The Toronto interviews will be held in January.

and i KNOW this..

historically (as in 2, 3, 4yrs ago), have BU interviews been @ the end of Jan? I am anxious to schedule my Temple interview. 😳

thanks

i interviewed with Dr. Stoute in Dallas last month - i thought he was really nice and laid back- he asked some simple questions - nothing too hard at all...we really just had a conversation about different topics

i must have made an impression because i got an acceptance letter a week later..

my advice: just relax and be yourself
