i have a quick, random question. for ODs that own their own practice, are you required by law to get business insurance (in addition to malpractice) or is it optional? or does it vary from state to state?

presumably you mean general liability coverage, although I'm not sure about "the law" but you would be pretty foolish not to carry it. As well, if you are purchasing an office your lender will require it.

You're not required to have any insurance, but you'd be foolish not to have it.
