Got a 1st year in my program training for an ultra right now. Seeing the miles he's putting in on Strava is crazy.

2:08 marathon is just disgusting. He could finish one, take a nice leisurely half hour nap, and then finish another one in the time it takes me to do my personal record.

lol for real. I was super happy when I finished a half in under 2 hours, and then I proceeded to vomit from dehydration haha.

Yep exactly, same.

Although I read an article of an interview with an Olympic marathon runner. He talked about how he had so much respect for "regular" runners since our training runs take up so much more time since we’re slow lol.

I had never even actually thought about that! It would make a big difference as a person who has to work and be in real life if a 20 mile training run only took 1.5 hrs instead of 4.5 hrs, ha. Getting up in the middle of the night at 3am to train is no fun!

Hehir makes a similar point in an interview. He likes to keep his long runs at 2hrs or less. Says he doesn’t enjoy them as much when they go over 2hrs....haha

In med school and residency i met a handful of people who only need 3-4 hours of sleep per night...more than that and they get headaches.

Being like that gives you such an insane advantage over normal people. I get 8-9 hours now when i’m not on call and i still feel like i could sleep in.

Have some kids and you too can learn this power.

Even more reason to not start running.
