Out of two toxins C. diff produce, which one is responsible for pseudomembrane colitis? In FA, it sounds like toxin B being cytotoxic and causes the colitis- but it was not clear whether A is also needed or contributes to the onset.

Thanks.

Its weird bc I know that C difficile has an AB toxin. However, the normal AB toxin acts so that B binds, and A is released into the cytoplasm and exerts effects (like ADP robsylation).

Sounds almost like A and B toxins are just completely separate here....confusing.
