I just finished my first science course ever this summer. Ended up taking General Biology and got a high c. I'll be taking Calc I, Bio 2, and Chem I in the Fall. I'm just worried that this will effect my chances of getting into pharm school.

Has anyone gotten into pharm school with C's in any of there science courses? Should I retake it or just continue on and maintain A's and B's in my fall semester courses?

I'd think one C is not going to hurt you if you get A's and B's on all other science courses, the upper division science courses if you do well helps.

Don't take a science class during the summer again!

it will AFFECT your chances of getting into pharm school, obviously. but depending on what you get in the rest of the pre-reqs, hopefully not by much :-/

I had around 7 C's ...followed by 2 years of straight A's to make up for it. If you do well on the PCAT it obliterates the C, because it proves that you have retained the knowledge. The PCAT is like the ultimate final exam for all the classes combined. Although, if you apply to an extremely competitive school, the school will just use the C as an excuse to not choose you over the student who does not have any C's.

I got a C+ in BioChem and a C in a 2 unit O-chem lab, and I got in.

Just do well from now on.

I got in with Fs, lots of them. One C isn't going to doom your application. It just makes the path a little harder but there are ways to overcome most of the trouble spots on an application with enough hard work and perseverance. I would examine your study habits though so you don't repeat the experience.

I had 11 Cs on my transcript (1 C-). Then again majority of those are from my BioEngineering classes.

easy to type, a bit harder to do.

There are two types of people that make C's.

The type that does not have a handle on their priorities. IE - The only reason you got the C to start with was not putting the time/work in.

or

The type of person that is simply not capable of doing better than a C which would not bode well for your future pharmacy plans.

So which one are you?
