do you get to see the GPA pharmCAS calculates before submitting the application? I sent my school the transcript request form and they sent out the transcript to pharmCAS. I thought pharmcas calculates it but then saw you had to enter your course info in and now im just really confused? 😕

You have to enter all your course info and "unofficial" graded first. Once pharmcas receives all your transcripts they will compare them with the data you entered. Once pharmcas calculates you can see the final GPA. You should be able to figure it out from your unofficial transcripts though. It might change slightly with how pharmcas calculates them

No, once you submit your application, PharmCAS calculates it and lets you know after a few weeks.

So, do you find out before or after sending out the app? feels like both of your answers are conflicting, unless i'm reading it wrong. in which case, i apologize.

Also, I'm entering in public health classes..I was a public health major for 2 years.. Public health is under the health science department at our school. For pharmcas, which course subject do you think is appropriate: general non-science, other science, or social/behavioral science?

you find out after you submit it. After you submit the PharmCAS app, it takes a few weeks for them to review it and come up with your GPA calculation. Then they send it out to schools when everything is calculated and ready to go.

edit: course subject depends on the class. give me an example of a class you took.

You have to e-submitted your application and wait up to 5 weeks for PharmCAS to calculate your GPA, but you have to submitted ALL the transcripts before PharmCAS can give you an accurate GPA. Hope this help.

oh yeah, forgot to mention that. They can't calculate your GPA without all your official transcripts because they have to make sure everything was input 100% correct.

Ok thanks guys. Man, really wish they calculated it BEFORE submitting it. oh well..

Public health classes that need to go in are:
Intro to community health
Applied biostats
Computers for health professionals
Public health and marketing
Basic environmental health
Epidemiology
Health policies and issues
Writing for health professionals

none had labs. so maybe social/behavior science?

I'd first try calling your school's registrar office and asking them what they consider those courses to be. They'd have a better idea.

Check out the PharmCAS instruction booklet. They have examples around page 26 that should help you figure out which class goes in what category.

Your college is not likely to know off-hand how PharmCAS designates each class, but if you go in & talk to an advisor with the instruction booklet in hand, the advisor may be able to help. I think it's pretty clear in your case after reading the categories in the instruction booklet, though.
