California job hunting tips?

I am a Senior Resident from California finishing residency in Midwest. Unfortunately, none of my staff have any contacts in California. Prefer Northern California but willing to consider all of California. Any tips on the job search?

I am in a similar situation, except I have one year left. I am looking to very possibly (if I can find a decent job) relocate to the northern suburban LA area (husband's job situation) and I don't know anyone in that half of the country (nor does anyone I know) and don't know how to get started. It's a daunting task. Have you picked up any pointers? Thanks!!
