Will be traveling through SoCal on personal time, and am looking to save a little money on overnight stops. Camp Pendleton is a good stopping place, but the base seems to have multiple VOQs, lodges, Inns of the Corps, etc. Anybody have a recommendation? I haven't been there in >10 years. Thanks.

Inns of the Corps on the main side is nice. Close to the Commissary, new exchange, I5, etc. Rooms are good size. Parking is convenient.

Thank you. The last time I was there the new hospital was in the infancy stage of discussion, and I stayed in a firetrap (Marine Manor?). Would prefer to avoid that place again.

There are several places to stay on base. Depending on availability, the rooms at Del Mar or San Onofre are close to the same price and are on the beach. Link below

Also if you are headed farther south NAS North Island has a nice lodge. Coronado is pretty awesome. Link to the Navy Lodge below.

Thanks for the info. If Uncle ever closed Pendleton and/or some of the other facilities in the greater San Diego area and sold to developers, we could retire the national debt from the sale proceeds. Those properties look like primo real estate.

I just stayed at the Navy Lodge North Island, and it's almost as nice as the Hale Koa.
