You need the prereqs.

Definition of prerequisite 👎
pre·req·ui·site [ pree rékwizit ]

1) something needed as prior condition: an object, quality, or condition that is required in order for something else to happen

2) needed as prior condition: required in order for something else to happen

I don't know, guys...I think prerequisite courses are optional.

you have biochem? in my school you can't even sign up for biochem without having done 2 semesters of bio, chem, and ochem.

I wasn't trying to get sh+tted on, the reason I asked, was I work full time I help my family out and going back to school for a year without work is just not financially feasible for me. Yes, If i am in dental school it makes sense because I'M IN DENTAL SCHOOL. but just going back to school while i have a great job in the government and attempting to go to dental (because its not guaranteed just won’t work. I'll lose my great job, i'll be poor as hell and will have to wait until the next year to reapply. if i was 21, 22, 23 it would make sense, but I'm 26. thats why i was asking, if i could substitute those courses for upper level bio courses (because my university offers those at night and evening) and i could easily do it.

You must take all the required prerequisites for any school to which you intend to apply. Usually, this is at the very least Gen Chem, Orgo, 1 yr of Bio, and Physics.
You must also take the DAT, get letters of recommendation, and write a personal statement.

If you do not wish to do these things, or are unable to do so, there are thousands of other applicants who can and will.

if you're located where i think you're located, you have dozens of institutions to choose from that offer the most basic pre-req sciences in the evenings. schools understand they can make money by posting up evening bio, chem, and physics classes for working people looking to jump ship.

and if you can't leave work to do school full-time...don't. it will only take you a little longer to get to the stage where you're ready to apply. what's the rush?

You have 2 choices.

Work and help your family or....

Complete your prereqs and try for dental school.

Pick one.

You mean there is a school out there that allows you to take "upper division courses" before taking any intro courses?
