I mean, you learn the same info except for Obstetrics. Has anyone had problems getting hired by places that require an FM BC/BE. Do most places recognize Med-Peds?
It would completely depend on the job. Where I currently work everyone is FM because we do a lot of prenatal care and reproductive health care (lots of procedures, ultrasounds, etc). I would assume if you had training in those areas where I work it wouldn’t be a problem.
You should be hirable for any non-OB family med position. Procedures are en vogue again at many IM programs with the advent of ultrasound, and women's health rotations are also available everywhere I have ever looked. Of course you cannot deliver babies, so that would be tough. My residency's group was the on call for post-natal complications for many years.
