Can someone help me with a list of MD/DO schools to apply to?

So I'm a 3rd year undergrad and a rising senior and I've decided with my less than stellar MCAT score to see if I can get into a Medical school, because ultimately my goal is to volunteer with DWB and I don't want to necessarily go a whole year just studying again.
My GPA is a 3.88, im a CA resident, but my MCAT was a 27. My research is good, with a publication possibly by next June, and my clinical experience/shadowing is also good. I am NOT a URM, and I'm feeling overwhelmed with all these Catalogues with average MCAT GPA etc and I really need someone's help who sort of already knows and has applied? Thank you guys so much!!!!

Apply to 10 DO schools of your liking and you should be good to go. Avoid OOS public schools.

Not sure about MD.

Thanks for replying 🙂 For OOS public schools aren't most OOS DO schools public? So in CA the only 2 I could do are Touro and Western right?

Oh and one more thing so I'm assuming that if I applied to TCOM I probably wouldn't get much love since it's public? I have cousins that went there and spoke highly of it :/
If you're not from Texas you will be at a disadvantage. Texas residency is not a requirement, though. If you're going to apply there be sure to know the deadlines since Texas medical schools have a different admissions process.
With your numbers you should be reasonably competitive if you apply broadly and early. You may not make it if you only apply to 3 or 4 schools, though.

Make sure to get your letters of recommendation lined up early.

Mostly because you are not from TX.

Would you recommend retaking the MCAT to be more competitive? I really really do not want to, but if it's the only way then I'll put in the work to make it happen

If you want MD, yes. Edit: @Sai111394 then no need to retake, you can apply to Touro Ca, AZCOM (has california rotation), or Western. GL

Most of the OOS that I encountered and got into TCOM had 3.6+ GPAs with 32+ MCATS. Only 10% of the class of 230 can be OOS (state law) so it gets pretty competitive for those few spots.

A 27 is circling the drain for MD schools. Suggest Netter, TCMC, NYMC, Loma Linda, Albany, MCW and SLU. You'll still have much better luck with all DO schools, except AZCOM. I can't recommend LUCOM.

Thank you so much! My counselor suggested TCMC because I have a lot of community based ECs, so I'm happy to see that has showed up too. Thank you again!

Any specific reason why you don't reccomend LUCOM?
