Hi there, I have a few questions with regards to a Canadian citizen attending St. George's University.

1.) The admistration of the school mentioned to me that the usmle allows you not to take the the Canadian licencing exams (i.e. the usmle is accepted in Canada). Is this true? Does anyone have experience with the canadian liciencing board in regards to this matter?

2.) I noticed that a lot of Students (10%) transfer from SGU to U.S. schools in their second or 3rd year. While I believe that these are mostly U.S citizens, does anybody know if a Canadian was able to do this and what are the chances?

3.) How do Canadians stay in the U.S. for residency and beyond. Do have to keep getting VISAs or will eventually the U.S. government give you u.s. permanent residency status and how long does this take?

2.) No Chance at all for you. Forget about that option.

3.) Depends on the Visa (J1 vs. H1B at start of residency) but you get a green card eventually

This is the answer for number two. It's already near impossible for a US citizen to transfer to US med school from Caribbean, any other nationality try to get in as a transfer I've never heard it before. You can certainly check with the US school and ask them.
