This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
(It costs $550 000 annually for 4 years of medical school, and $900 000 per year for the 6 years of neurosurgical specialty training, for a total of $8 million to train each specialist [CMAJ 1994; 151(11):1581-7].)

wow where do you guys get these figures from ??? why does it look so super inflated ? 2.2 M for 4 years of med school ? hahaha that's absurd

they're not talking tuition!!!! this is taxpayer money. this is our "free" healthcare going to fund the training of these neurosurgeons trained by current neurosurgeons (paid somehow!) and now they are leaving. it's hardly absurd - it's the truth and it's a travesty

That is Canadian Dollars, in our great nation that would equal to "chump change"
:D :D just kidding I can tolerate Canadians sometimes

Those numbers still look ridiculous. Even US private schools charge 10% of that, and I'm sure they're not losing money on training students.
