I've been looking at some American schools to apply to and I have several questions.

1-Can an upper year chemistry course be used in place of general chemistry

2-Can a pre-req be waived because its not offered. I got to one of if not the biggest school in the country and if we don't have it nobody does.

3-How is GPA and PCAT scores weighted in terms of each other (for instance is a high PCAT enough to overcome a poor GPA).

Thank-You.. I really appreciate it

1. no
2. no
3. Some schools weight GPA more than Pcat, others do the opposite.

Pretty much. If your school doesn't offer a pre-req, find one that does. You can sometimes substitute for a course in the same field (ie.global economics for economics pre-req), but if you don't have it, you won't get in. All schools consider GPA, but some will consider other factors including PCAT. I have a low cumulative GPA (2.62) and a very high PCAT (91st overall).

Thanks for the replies. I'm having some difficulties finding a English Composition and its very unlikely that I could afford to take it in the US over the summer. I guess after the break I'll be calling up some schools and figuring it out.

Since I'm guessing you attend UofT, it really shouldn't be hard to find an English writing course. I went to a small university and they had english comp. If UofT doesn't offer the course, try online through Athabasca University. It's an online school that is recognized by schools in the US. I did some of my pre-reqs through them with good results.

Your guess was right, I go to UofT. And yes if you look at the outline for the Mississauga and Downtown campus, there is no course like that...or I'm missing it. Anyways thanks for the suggestion of Athabasca, didn't even know about it.
Thanks
