Can't use copy/paste on OTHER docs when USMLEWorld is open??

I just started using USMLEWorld's qbank. I am not copying and pasting anything from the USMLE World program, but when I am reviewing my mistakes I am forming notes in a word doc for myself on things I missed by searching the internet and searching my own past self-written documents from my med school, but I can't copy and paste, for example, a paragraph from wikipedia into a word doc, because I can't use the copy/paste function without getting a message from USMLEWorld. It seems like as long as the program is even open on the computer, you can't use the copy/paste function at all? The only way I could form notes is by closing and reopening the problem constantly? Any suggestions? This makes it really hard to form notes for yourself.

Yea you cant do that while UW is open....to prevent piracy I suppose....Just close UW and do all the copy/pasting you want....👍

yikes, no way to get around this to take notes? every time I open and close the program it takes a few minutes.

You can copy/paste when UWorld is open, but not while an actual exam is open. You can't when one is.

That's how it is on OS X, anyway.

Use two computers, and just type fast.

just use the notes feature within uworld, and then you can import all your notes as a pdf and read them as a review

You can highlight the text and then drag it (for example from the internet select the text you want to copy, click on it and hold down the mouse button, move the mouse into your word document and let go of the mouse button)

They are really annoying about their piracy controls - they force you to shut off various other processes, even ones unrelated to screenshots, etc...

The funniest part is anyone with a moderate amount of network programming experience could easily rip the whole qbank (and not just screen grabs). It's all unprotected XML.

don't worry about it. he's talking about how easy it would be for someone to pirate uworld if they really wanted to, without copy/paste.

as dumb as it is, you can't get around the copy/paste block while you have a test active. that is that. suspend the test or figure out a different way of taking notes that doesn't involve copy/paste.

It annoys the hell out of me that I can't copy and paste gif URLs on SDN while reviewing my UWorld tests. I don't want to pirate your software, I just want to post pictures of cats FFS. Your qbank has already been pirated a billion times and is floating all over the internet. To treat the customers that actually paid you for your service instead of stealing it like potential criminals is ridiculous.

I realize this is an old thread but I'm desperate for some help.

Ever since I started UWorld, I can't copy/paste AT ALL. I don't have an active test, UWorld is closed (I even opened and closed it to be sure it was closed). It won't let me copy/paste within Word documents or in emails and it's driving me nuts. I spent a lot of time writing and copy/paste is so integral. I've googled this and everything I've found is mostly about screenshots, which I'm not trying to do. To be super clear, I'm not trying to copy/paste anything to/from UWorld whatsoever. I'm just trying to write emails and docs (totally unrelated to medicine at all) and UWorld is blocking all of it. I am a mac user if that makes any difference. And I'm technologically challenged in some ways but I really need my copy/paste back.

UW blocks copy pasting in all programs while its running, even if you're copy pasting between two documents that have nothing to do with UW. But this ceases to happen once you close UW, so I'm not sure what your problem is. I don't know anything about Macs, but if this happened to me, the first thing I would do is open task manager to make sure some UW process isn't still running. If rebooting fixes your problem, then UW probably isn't completely shutting down.

This block on copy pasting really serves no purpose, other than to frustrate people who pay for their services. UW pirated versions are floating around everywhere on the internet.
