Can anyone suggest good car transportation companies--Cali to the Midwest (Toledo?) I just want something quick, reliable, safe and cheap--like everyone else. =)

If anyone has suggestions of companies that allow you to put stuff (e.g. clothes, etc) IN your car as well, that'd be awesome. I'm guessing there aren't many companies willing to do this though because of the risk that people might ship weapons or drugs.

Does anyone have any experience shipping a leased car? Should I be concerned about potential damage? Is shipping something you have to clear with your leasing company first? Or would most people suggest breaking the lease/paying the early termination fee and buying a new car where the med school is? I know it's dumb, but I'd like to avoid buying a new car because I'm really attached to mine and it reminds me of home.

Thanks for the help--

i need to move a car from california to virginia. i've been getting quotes of around $900-$1200. so i guess yours would be cheaper. also, if anyone can recommend some reputable auto moving companies i would really appreciate it.

The lowest West Coast to Ohio quote for auto transport I found is $850. Most company ask for $1000 at least. Looks like I will be driving across the country in a couple of months.

If you have stuff to move along with the car did you ever consider towing an auto transporter with a uhaul? They are fairly easy to load and unload. I did this from New York to Missouri with great success.

I went on that moving scams website and used one of the companies that they recommend (Coast to Coast Auto Transport). I am paying 1250 from NC to Seattle and they check out with the BBB.

you know that does seem like a good idea..except that i have a leased car, and putting the mileage on the car is going to cost me a lot in excess mile charges at the end of the lease =(

thanks though =)

my boyfriend recommended dependable auto service. he moved his car from oakland, ca to nyc with them two years ago, and then back from nyc to sf two weeks ago. he says they're pretty good, $700, and they were there on time, no scratches on the car. i'll have to check that advice against that moving scams site though.

Fedex custom critical ships cars not sure of the price though

I shipped my car from Philadelphia to California. They broke my radio, glove compartment, and my car arrived with a dead battery. Good luck finding a reputable company to ship your car. I unfortunately do not have one to recommend.
