My dad's boss is a cardiothoracic surgeon, chair of the department of surgergy, chief of the division of cardiac surgery, and vice president of medical affairs. He makes $2-3 million a year from all those titles.

Family friends (husband and wife) are cardiologists (not even surgeons). They run a practice together and rake in $1.5 million each per year.
Annual income of $3,000,000... oh boy. That's more than Sean McNamara and Christian Troy make combined.

Agreed. I hear that unless you're willing to make surgery your life it's not worth the pay. Plus, it seems that they don't really have the time or opportunity to spend that cash...

I think it has a lot to do with cardiology creeping in on a lot of the stuff that was traditionally handled by the CV surgeons

Agreed, a lot of cath labs out there doing minimally invasive stuff.
