Hi everyone!

Has anyone heard when the registration will open for the July 2021 CBSE is going to be? The website stated late March, but it seems a little late.

Thank you 🙂

Sorry, I meant when the registration would be opened for the exam dates

The available test days are from July 24th to July 31st.

Does anyone know if the results will all come out at the same time or will the July 24th folks receive their scores sooner?

or is this the first time the test has been set-up like this?

Everyone will get it the same day (usually a week after the last test date)

Anyone take the new NBMEs yet?
Yeah, got done with them today. I would steer away from Form 25 because it was a huge confidence killer.
Overall, it felt like they were worded in a weird way. And the explanations after weren't the greatest compared to UW.

Hey at least you got explanations 😂

Boys and girls, people are going to start taking this exam next week.

Best of luck to everyone. Keep a cool head and maintain hydration. Take some breaks. We'll complain about this in two weeks.

Good luck everyone!
A couple of tips from someone who took the CBSE twice and Step 1 recently...

1) Always utilize the breaks. Officially you only get a break after section 2. But if you have extra time after section 1 or 3, just sit back with your eyes closed and rest. Don't end any sections early.
2) Wake up early the day before so you can fall asleep. Melatonin might be worth looking into. Don't study at all the day before.
3) Accept that many questions are wildcards. Especially anatomy questions. I don't care if you memorized every resource, there are still random questions you have no chance of knowing. Just take a quick guess and move on. Those questions aren't worth your mental energy. Remember, if you get a brutal exam, so did everyone else. Just do the best you can do and let the curve settle everything else.
4) Most people feel like garbage after the exam. Most people are also pleasantly surprised by their scores. So walk out, get some ice cream and don't think about the exam for a week.

So quiet in here this time around. I thought it was a fair exam. We’ll see what happens. Wishing everyone luck.

yea I wouldn’t be surprised if the average went down by 2-3 points. definitely had a lot of wtf questions on my exam
At the end of the day, clinic/school is getting back into the flow of normalcy. Have to expect 60 to be around the peak average for a pool of test takers.

That's one way to look at it.

I think people are just getting better at studying for this exam so the average will go up, just like any other "standardized" test.

Also, to the guy who wrote this exam: Why?

Honestly I dont think I would've been able to answer some of those questions even if I had the first aid book with me
Thats how those are sometimes....that test is unreal...

I took it years ago and got into a program but never started and I've been away from the field..Is a 72 still enough to apply? Also top 10% of class from good name..but like I said I've been away for years and havn't started the app so probably a no go this cycle?

It seems that you would have a good chance BUT the fact that you get in into a program and never started might be a problem , I am sure something serious happened so I would explain why I left in details as it might be the only thing that would hold you back from being considered. I agree with you that it might be too late for this cycle unless you are able to get your application ready by the end of this month.

Scored a 235 (85) my second go around, will this be high enough to get me interviews at "big name" programs like Michigan, MGH, UNC, etc. (and many more in this tier)?

Will to do a write up if anyone wants one!
Congrats. This won’t disqualify you from any program. They may not like you for other reasons, but 235 isn’t too low for any program.

I’m at Michigan. Definitely a strong score. Average interviewee score from last cycle was in the high 70’s. Average CBSE score of last 2 entering resident classes is 83. Most programs do a holistic review and take into account all parts of your application, not just the score.

Is it possible to land interviews with a score of 210+ and a class rank in the top half?

Sounds like we'll just follow last exam's scale. No idea why John London won't release the standard deviation though. Probably a lost cause now.

Hop off JL you dopes. He doesn’t live to follow the demands of students. You realize AAOMS just happened in Nashville, right? You think he might’ve been just a smidge busy with the board planning an event for thousands of oral surgeons? Chill, the results will come, and like always, they’ll be just like last time but a bit higher.
