From what I remember (I interviewed at Hoag), you write an essay on the spot (easy prompt) and then you go straight to the interview. Basically they just ask typical interview questions down the line of about 5 interviewees and you will probably end up answering 2-3 questions. I remember getting an ethical question but it's nothing to lose sleep over. Just be articulate and you'll be fine.
I interviewed this past November and it's exactly what TheShaker said except I definitely did not have to right a short essay (I interviewed at CVHP). Also, the interview is pretty easy, you should have nothing to worry about 😀
I used to help with the interviews at my program. We took the essay out a couple years ago.
You go through a few rounds of questions posed to the group, and for each round everyone gets a chance to answer a question. Most of them are pretty general job and common interview questions regarding teamwork, cooperation, leadership, customer service, etc. If you've been to a lot of job interviews, you've probably heard a few. In total, you will probably answer 4-5 questions/person. Best tip I can give is to give a clear answer and follow up with an example that will illustrate your point. The interviewers are looking for CCEs who will be able to provide good customer service and be team players. Otherwise, be yourself and dress as you would at any interview. Also, smile and be friendly 🙂
It's not that bad - you'll only get burned if you act snobby or arrogant (happens more often than you think) or if we catch you dozing off or daydreaming while someone else is talking. Good luck!
So, I was under the assumption the CCE program was only being done in one hospital chain, where is it located in totality?
Oh yeah what I meant to say was I interviewed in October and started volunteering in November. I love it so far
Google COPE Health Solutions and their website shows all the different sites
Thanks!
who has gone through the CCE program?
i'm interested in doing it and want to hear some feedback from those who did it:
1. what kind of jobs/duties did you do?
2. what did you learn or get from this opportunity
3. was there any dull moments
4. did it make you appreciate or loose interest in health care?
