CCE Program- What to Expect at the Interview

I have an interview coming up for the CCE program in SoCal.

I was wondering if anybody had any tips on what to expect during the interview. So far, all I know is that it's a group interview.

From what I remember (I interviewed at Hoag), you write an essay on the spot (easy prompt) and then you go straight to the interview. Basically they just ask typical interview questions down the line of about 5 interviewees and you will probably end up answering 2-3 questions. I remember getting an ethical question but it's nothing to lose sleep over. Just be articulate and you'll be fine.

I used to help with the interviews at my program. We took the essay out a couple years ago.

You go through a few rounds of questions posed to the group, and for each round everyone gets a chance to answer a question. Most of them are pretty general job and common interview questions regarding teamwork, cooperation, leadership, customer service, etc. If you've been to a lot of job interviews, you've probably heard a few. In total, you will probably answer 4-5 questions/person. Best tip I can give is to give a clear answer and follow up with an example that will illustrate your point. The interviewers are looking for CCEs who will be able to provide good customer service and be team players. Otherwise, be yourself and dress as you would at any interview. Also, smile and be friendly 🙂

It's not that bad - you'll only get burned if you act snobby or arrogant (happens more often than you think) or if we catch you dozing off or daydreaming while someone else is talking. Good luck!

I interviewed this past November and it's exactly what TheShaker said except I definitely did not have to right a short essay (I interviewed at CVHP). Also, the interview is pretty easy, you should have nothing to worry about 😀

i actually haven't done many interviews. i got the first job i ever applied to so i never really needed to worry about interviewing haha. but hopefully it all goes well. thank you so much!
i'm confident that i'm qualified for the position and everything, it's just nerve-wracking to put my fate in someone else's hands haha.

Yeah they have several spread out over SoCal!! FYI I didn't know this going in, but they charged me and everyone else in my rotation $100 after getting accepted in to the program. Also you have to wear certain khaki pants that you buy. I think that is it for extra expenses in case anyone wanted to know

1. basically assisting CNAs. other things like handing out water, feeding patients, turning patients when the CNAs change diapers or change sheets. we actually never physically touched their private areas.. I think there is a law now, so we just help the CNAs with holding the pt while they do that. delivering food trays.

2. humility. and being grateful (no joke)... I straight up saw many people dying connected to all sorts of tubes, barely hanging on. It was sad.

3. yes absolutely. what you can do is limited so you are left asking around what you can do a whole bunch. it also depends on the time/day you shift

4. no, not at all. little interaction with doctors. i rarely ever saw doctors on the floors. this role really makes you realize how much RNs are involved with inpatient care and how much autonomy they have.. but I could never be a RN. but it's still a good learning experience that opens your eyes up to other parts of medicine/patient care as whole.
