CCOM Class of 2009

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Stripes,

Are you from Madison, WI? Cuz, I live right off State St. right now. Perhaps if you're in the real Mad Town your crew and my crew can meet for some wobbly sodas and talk about CCOM.

Billy

Also, hey everyone. I'm looking forward to meeting all of you. Is anyone looking to live off campus?

hi everyone! i'll be joining you all at mwu next fall-- woot! just wanted to hear from those of you who went to this meet and greet thing on saturday-- any fun? any cool kids not posting on sdn? i skipped because 1) i live 4 hours away, and 2) it was my birthday (momentous 22)!

ps-- i'm planning on living off campus so if the drinking on campus thing doesn't work out, we can party at my place!

I'm glad to hear that everyone else loves beer as much as me. I think it was b/c my mother tended to throw back a few every now and then when I was in her womb. Anywho, this means we can meet every Sunday and watch the Pack destroy whoever they are playing. I don't even know why those other wannabe ballers even show up.

Hey Billy,

Yep, good 'ol Madison. I live waaayyy over by the hospital since I wasn't planning on coming back to Madison this year. I actually graduated last May and most of my friends have left me. So sad. But I'm still lovin' it here! Sure, we should meet up sometime on State or the terrace. PM me. And just for the record, I have never heard of wobbly sodas in my life. Ha ha. I'm always out and about around there. And Yay! I found someone else who's a die hard Packers fan!

Jenni

Bengals > Packers
Buckeyes > Badgers
Ohio > Wisconsin

That should about cover it.

Jenni,
Do you live by The UW-hospital? That fine institution currently pays my bills. I'm a pharmacy tech or pharmacist's biatch as I like to call it. Yeah, the terrace sounds good. I don't know what your schedule is like. I work all A.M.s this week so whenev is good for you.

Since when where the Bengals ever a good team? I love my Pack.
And where were the Buckeyes this year?
And isn't Ohio known as one of the dirtiest states? 😉
Yes, I am a die-hard Cheesehead!

1. The Bengas are rebuilding.....again.
2. We were 8-4 after we lost more seniors to the NFL than any other Big 10 Team....ever. Hardly a poor season.
3. Ohio may be a dirty state; but you'll have that when you pack 11+ million people into a fairly small area.
4. Im sorry; Ill convert you, dont worry 😉

Buckeye,

2 years of Favre's tutilege for Mr. Aaron Rogers. Book the flight for Super Bowl 42.

Hello, fellow '09ers! What's going on? It's been raining here, almost every day, and it is really working my nerves, so we in St. Louis deserve some really awesome May flowers. I'm trying to get some repair work done on our house before it is listed next week. Thankfully, the roof repair was completed on Monday, but they took the gutters down and have not been able to put the new ones up due to this blasted rain. Everytime I walk out the door I get drenched with runoff from the roof--grrrr.

Ah well, I can hardly believe that in four months time, we will begin year one. I am getting very excited about starting classes. How is everyone doing on their financial aid forms? I completed the FAFSA back in Feb, but just did the MWU thing this week. All of it was simple but for the Sallie Mae OpenNet registration--that program is not written for mac computers, so I had my husband do it for me at work. Hope I did everything correctly. I had three messages in my MWU email box reminding me to complete the school's process, so for those of you who have procrastinated (like me) it's time to get cracking.

Until later!

Dude, Ohio has like 23 million population. We are te fifth most populous state.
1. California
2. NY
3. Texas
4. Florida
5. Ohio

And Ohio isn't dirty, it's beautiful!! I'm not sure where you are living, but it's gorgeous. I will move back to Ohio as soon as I can, I can't wait to get back to 20 cent cheaper gas, lower sales tax, lower cost of living, higher standard of living for families.

Ive lived in Columbus, Cleveland, and Cincinnati.

Cleveland/Canton/Akron/Toledo are dumps dude, don't tell people otherwise.

Ohio sucks a nut ( I aint talkin' bout buckeyes either). I am counting the days till I move to chi-town. The only thing cool about ohio is lake erie and The Ohio State University. Oh yea, I almost forgot. F*** the cavs. It is going to take years of counseling correct the trauma they have put me through all these years.

LOL...Poor miserable lil guy...dont you worry kiddo, just hang in there, you will be in a better place starting september. We will get you all the counseling you need....

sigh, maybe it's because I have a 10 page paper due on Thursday and haven't started the research yet, or finals next week, I think I'm going crazy! Is it summer yet? Then again, it's like 40 degrees here, it's never gonna be summer!

Buckeye - do you know when the Badgers and Buckeyes play each other?

How long did it take you guys to hear back after your interviews? I interviewed on 4-13 and haven't heard anything yet. Thanks!

About 3 weeks or so. My friend called the school up last week and they said that they are finishing up the application cycle. So you should be hearing something soon.

Thanks. I hope it is soon; this is killing me. :scared:

😱 We must never let this happen again!! Bump, bump, bump!

Best of luck to ya KHep and a big hello to everyone else! Enjoy the weekend

I received a letter from CCOM today informing me that I am on the alternate list. It's a bummer, but I guess there is still some hope. Do any of you guys know how to write a letter of intent? Or maybe you can direct me to a thread? Thanks!

I interviewed in March and have since contacted the others who interviewed the same day, we all were put on the alternate list! (One person was declined...) I know people say they wouldn't interview if there weren't spots, but all of us being put on the alternate list? I don't know... I am still hoping to join you all next year, CCOM is still my top choice!

Im on the alternate list too and i interviewd in april 😕

Ill give up my spot of Penn State lets me in. Looks like May 15th is a big day not just for me....

Imagine if when you gave up your spot, you could designate who it could go to. Couldn't you just see the money exchanging hands? Kind of like egg donation...supposedly there is a cap to how much they can get, but in reality they get huge compensation because "gifts" are not monitored.

Just a crazy thought. Anything to help me avoid studying for finals 😀

Yo KHep, I'd try beer - preferably a fine pilsner from WI (Pabst, Old Milwaukee's, etc.)

HAHHAHAHAH Old Milwaukee and Pabst are fine pilsners? What, are you smokin crack?

Next up, Natural Light wins the Worlds Best Tasting Beer Competition.

How about those Brewers CCOMer's. The Cardiac Crew has won 8 of 9.

I guess it is an acquired taste or something.

I guess its an acquired taste or something - maybe cuz I got $6 in my checking account and that is good for about 2 cases.

How bout them Reds, we've lost 8 straight. Awesome.

Dude, I love Griffey. If you go to CCOM. I'll hit off a Reds - Cubbies or Reds vs. Crew game. Cubbies games are tough to go to. Miller Park is money in the bank.

I cant figure out why ever athlete that comes to Cincinnati a good player (red/bengals) ends up sucking.

Examples: griffey jr, akili smith, and more, whose names escape me currently.

IMPORTANT

Any CCOMers looking for roommate. PM me. I wanna get this **** takin care of so I can quit my job early, go out every night, and golf everyday. I am clean, too.

god, i decided to live in the dorms for the first year but I have a feeling its gonna be heinous.

I'll be opting for a pitcher of margaritas as soon as I take my last final tomorrow 🙂

Hey guys,
It looks like my fiance is going to get a job at rush hospital, so we are looking at prospective places to buy a condo. I am not from chicago so I was hoping for some suggestions. I want to live somewhere in the middle of downers grove and rush. I heard oak park was nice. Does anyone know anything about berwyn? Any other neighborhoods anyone can suggest? Thanks alot.

Good luck on your last final! I only wish my last final were tomorrow. At exactly 5pm on Friday I will be at the bars with drink in hand toasting the end of a crappy week!

Mo,

Oak Park is probably your best option. It is a nice suburb and a good majority of the populace are young professionals. The commute is also easier than Berwyn because I-290 (Eisenhower) is about a mile from Oak Park and runs east to Chicago and runs west to I-88 towards Downers Grove. The only problem I can foresee is that the price of a condo will be high just because Oak Park is a desirable suburb to live in. Berwyn is alright; no where near the status of Oak Park. To commute from Berwyn to DG and Chicago, there are no quick roads. The quickest way would be to take surface streets (US-34 Ogden Ave.), but that would take at least an 45 minutes to Chicago and an hour to Downers Grove (believe me, I've done it). I think Oak Park is the best bet if you are trying to live in between Chicago and DG. Good luck.

Friends,
My last final was on the May 7th of May in the year 2004. Thus, I will toast all of you tonight with some fine Wisconsin hops - I am rolling with Steven's Point Beer tonight = Money in the bank.

Good thing your last final wasnt on May 7th of June, because that would have been ****in weird.

I was waiting for someone to start a thread. 🙂
I am excited about the school, but being an out-of-stater from CA, ~$35,000 tuition and weather worry me. (I am still choosing CCOM over other schools though.) Who else is in my situation? Just out of curiosity...

And Claymore, thanks for your kind offer. Does CCOM offer PBL type of classes? Thanks!

The tuition is comparable to other private schools in the area and significantly cheaper than some local MD schools. Today it was raining and about 40, and now has warmed up to a sunny 75, yesterday it was 45. I HATE the weather here, and I'm a Chicago native--pack a warm coat! The traffic is horrible here, too. I'm just telling the truth, be ready for snowstorms in May. But good luck and feel free to email me with any questions. The school is NOT at all PBL, and I consider that one of it's weaker points. But we have good faculty who are for the most part very willing to answer questions and clarify concepts. You just have to put it all together on your own.

Sounds like fun! Are you done with school for the year? I'm heading down there on Thursday to take care of a few things and I was wondering if it was going to be dead or if there might still be people around.
