So i am too scared to e-mail...i guess i will just wait for my letter. Hopefully it will come tomorrow! If i get a really thin envelope...does that mean rejection?? This wait is seriously unbearable!!! Is anyone else just waiting for the letter by snail-mail? :luck::luck::xf::xf::xf::xf::xf:

Complete 8-11. No word at all!! I just e-mailed CCOM to inquire and let them know that I am retaking the MCAT in Jan........if it makes any difference as the application service did not update this fact :scared:
I'm scard!! Almost 3 months no and no word. I have not heard of anyone waiting this long?? Anyone else in my boat?

they actually only send a small letter envelope when they mail it out, so don't worry if you get that, i hope you get accepted 😀

How long ago did the people who received portal news today interview? I interviewed this past week and was told that due to thanksgiving break, etc, that we wouldn't be hearing for 2-4 weeks???

it really could take that long. i interviewed on 10/2 and didnt hear back until over 4 weeks later.

I interviewed 2 weeks ago... but we were told that a decision would be made within a week. I think it just depends where in the cycle you interview. Since T-day is 3 weeks out, hopefully they meet beforehand for y'all. Or, since this is Chicago, youse.

Yeah, the admissions counselor said the same thing to us about hearing back depending on the time you interview. Apparently, they have finals in two weeks and thanksgiving break after that, so I think it could really be up to 4 weeks for us. Don't know though. Very eager to hear!!!

From what I'm told the admissions committee meets once every month to make a decision of all of the interviewees from that month so most likely you won't get a decision until very late November or early December.

According to the information on the CCOM website, 3.53/28 is the average.

Anyone know of any merit based scholarships offered from Midwestern or that CCOM students regularly apply for? My search has come up dry.

It seems many of those types of scholarships are only available for current CCOM students (MII-MIV). If you go to the Financial Aid section of Midwestern it will give you every single institutional scholarship offered and who qualifies. It also lists grants/scholarhsips/loans from other sources as well.

does anyone know how OOS do for getting interviews? Good, Bad, fair.etc

thanks!

seemed pretty good to me. I was OOS, interviewed (and accepted) about a month ago. my group had about 10 ppl (out of 15) that were oos.

I'm from California and I got accepted. About 7 out of the 12 people in my interview group were from OOS so I think OOS has a pretty good chance. Just be prepared to answer the questions like why Chicago? or What do you think will be the biggest adjustment? etc.

I think OOS students have a great shot at getting interviews. Im OOS along with 9/12 students that were there the day of my interview.

So, apparently it's better to be oos than in-state haha nice!

what hotel did people stay in? cheap and convenient would be best.. no need for anything fancy.

Red Roof Inn is like $50 and not bad. Best thing about it is close proximity to the school so easy to get there the morning of your interview. They also have AAA rates.

I stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn in Oakbrook Terrace. It is really nice! I got it on Expedia for $85. It is about 15 minutes from the school.

Anybody have any idea when I am going to hear anything, I submitted the secondary a few months ago?

Any denials yet pre or post interview??🙁

Interviewed 10/27 and placed on the alternate waitlist :eyebrow:. Not too disappointed. I'll be going somewhere else. Better luck to everyone else 👍.

I submitted in sept...

I submitted my secondary on 9/9/09, would you recommend that I contact the admissions office and request for an update. I have no idea why it's taking so long, I would definitely rank my profile as being above than average. Suggestions would be appreciated!

The whole application process is odd. I would only consider my application a bit above average and I got love (an Interview) from CCOM pretty quickly. Who knows how they rank/processes the applicants, but if you truly have a strong application it will be noticed eventually.

To be honest, I think my stats were average if not below the averages by CCOM standards. Don't forget that CCOM has some of the highest number of applicants each year, and only so many people to look over the applications. I think the only reason I got an interview and accepted so early is because I was complete by like August or so haha.

The process is definitely odd and not to mention extremely nervewrecking, I'm a bit obsessed to be quite honest. CCOM is my top choice for numerous reasons and I would seriously love to be a student for this upcoming class. I'm just surprised because I also possess excellent letters of recommendations.

complete in late october. Wouldn't be surprised if they reject me bc i was so late. What do you all think 😕

I wasn't complete until October 12 (or a few days after) and was accepted. You're probably fine as long as you have a good application.

I have decided to choose CCOM over Nova. This was NOT an easy decision. I was totally impressed with Nova and was absolutely dead-set on attending that school.

I think what really pushed me in the direction of CCOM was the location as I have a support network here in case something happens, I like CCOM's hospital rotations, the great networking opportunities with physicians here as I would most likely end up practicing and wanting to do a residency here anyway (WAAAAYY over 50% of grads do residency in Illinois), CCOM's reputation/name, and the access to do research the summer between MSI & MSII while at Nova this is somewhat more difficult.

Yeah, CCOM's tuition is higher, but with cost of living it would almost come out even, as I have places I can stay here if money is an issue while in Florida it is all me!!

Finally, I am sure some of you may have more questions about my decision so please PM me if you do. Thanks!! Good luck to everyone else and to whoever gets my spot at Nova!
