I'm IN!!! 😀

Now how in the world can I afford it? I don't come from some huge family of doctors... it me, myself, and I ...dragging the boyfriend along for the ride...

How can I afford this.

It's between LECOM and CCOM.... I'm from NY.... how is this possible if the gov't caps you at $224 ish???

I NEED HELP IF CCOM IS TRULY WORTH THE EXTRA COST....

That is the cap on the Stafford Loan after 4 years, the rest of the cost can (and will if you are like 99% of the rest of us) be made up with the Federal GRAD Plus Loan, that is what it's made for. Higher interest but thank God it exists.

I have always ranked this school near the top of schools I would love to attend and now I finally have an interview and I maybe be getting ahead of myself. But the cost of attendance is huge compared to some of the others and I was just wondering what everyone else thinks about this. Do you all think it would be worth the extra 15K/yr?

Congrats to those who were accepted!

That's too bad. As one of the students who takes you guys on tours the admissions directly tells us not to criticize other schools. That being said the students response is a reflection of them, not the school. I believe slipped when someone asked me about a specific school last week. But my point is that you may want to base your decision to attend a school on more than a few students. I say this because I love the majority of my classmates but some of then there are others that I just scratch my head in amazement at some of the things they do (I'm sure they do the same regarding me). Every class at every school has people who are different and you may not get along with.

Anyways congrats on having options and I wish you the best!

Well it was not just the student comments that did it for me. I could tell it was just not going to be a good fit. It was too close to the big city and I'm more of a rural person. The cost alone was a big deciding factor too. I know it may be a great fit for many other people so I know it is a really good school, just not for me. Congrats to someone who gets my spot!!!

if you've been accepted and are planning on going to CCOM then join the CCOM class of 2014! Facebook group 🙂

Good luck to those still waiting

They are kind of slow. So don't get antsy until around a month has past. It took my about 3 weeks to get an interview from CCOM. If you have competitive stats you should receive one. Best of luck.

thank you very much for the info.....my stats are pretty much at their average....hoping they are good enough :xf:

any recent acceptences to CCOM? if so, then when did you interview?

What's the MCAT score/GPA for CCOM?

I just submitted my secondary to CCOM yesterday and was released from AACOMAS today.

How long does it take for CCOM to process secondaries?

complete secondary oct 7, haven't heard from they yet but i submitted AZCOM completed on oct 9 and got an interview invite today, what gives for that? another thing I noticed on the status was that in the AZCOM status showed the names of the letters for DO and committee, while in the CCOM status it doesn't show that. have they not gotten to my file yet? i have 3.32cGPA and 30R mcat, what you think my chances are of getting an interview

Long time no post. Work has been crazy.

I was able to change my interview date to OCT. 20, instead of Nov. 2. Keep checking the interview scheduling page as new dates open up as people cancel. I was happy I was able to change it this morning so now I dont have to miss work on Nov.2.

Looking forward to this one. Hopefully I'll get an acceptance, then I will have to choose between CCOM and Nova.

My MCAT is slightly below yours and I got an interview invite. It sucks, as I waited a couple months (complete in July) but it eventually came. Just have to be patient with this one and let them know every few weeks of your interest.

Hi, my secondary was completed about 2 weeks ago but I've heard that CCOM takes awhile to get back to about interviews? How long did it take you to hear about an interview? When you say "let them know of your interest" did you email the office of admissions or call them?

I emailed every few weeks ot let them know I REALLY wanted an interview. I was complete July 10th and got an interview invite last week.

Dont pester them or whine. Be sincere and back up your reason of why you want an interview.

I withdrew my application following in-state admission. Hopefully you guys can have my interview. Best of luck!

Does anyone know, preferably a current student, how CCOM distributes rotation sites? Lottery, determined for you, etc.?

How far out is the CCOM interview scheduled as of now? Anyone knows?

Dates open up (people cancel their interview) that are about a week out (Oct. 25ish) but those get gobbled up quick. I bet they are somewhere around Mid/End of November or even early Dec.

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure it is done by lottery for the order of your rotations and then again for location.

has anyone called the office for a status check before?

Yeah, I tried, they were not helpful. The lady I talked to just said "it's a waiting process." I say, "but... it's been 3 months."

and on and on. I pried them and everything and she wouldn't look into my file to see what was going on (if that's even possible).

*sigh* I'm worried. It's been a while now.. still no interview.

I'm in your boat too! Hopefully all of our waiting will pay off eventually...

Just finished my interview up today. It went pretty well and if I get accepted here it will be an extremely tough decision between CCOM & Nova. I was pretty upset to learn that there is no more in-state tuition, it is the same for everyone. Damn, CCOM is expensive!!!

Should find out if accepted or not in a couple weeks.

What were some of the interview questions and how long did it last?

msuspartan, the interview's not bad at all. they ask a lot of ethical questions, like i got asked what i thought of physician-assisted suicide. make sure to review all of your clinical experiences, cuz they definitely asked me a ton about that type of stuff. otherwise, the interviews are pretty laid back, i only know of one girl in my interview group who got grilled, everyone else had super straight forward interviews, really nice campus

oh and it lasted a little over 30 minutes, three interviewer panel, one medical student, one faculty member, and one D.O alumni, but don't worry about that, its really not too intimidating

Does anyone know how CCOM does interview selections? I finally got my complete email even though I sent in my letters two weeks ago. Now that I'm complete, how often do they review to give out invites? Is there a certain day of the week I should watch for?

I don't think they review on specific dates/days. Its pretty much rolling review of files, but it's probably gonna be a while until you hear back from CCOM. I would say around 3 weeks right now would be average.

I finished my interview yesterday as well, but I only got 2 interviewers. I really enjoyed the campus, and everyone there is pretty chill. A lot of current students pop in and talk to you and stuff so that's pretty cool. The tuition is crazy though 45k a pop annually, but their core rotation is so much more impressive than all of the other DO schools. Hopefully I receive some good new in the mail in about 3 weeks!

Starting the first week of November keep checking the MWU portal everyday. You will find out if you are accepted on there long before you get a letter. But, you will only have a status change if accepted. Otherwise, they notify you by mail.

hehe I don't know if I can handle checking non-stop because if by the first week of November I don't get any news I think I'll just be depressed.

Yeah, sorry, I should rephrase that!! It sounds like CCOM does it like AZCOM does. Their adcom meets once every month to review all the interviews for the month. So, the adcom will most likely meet the first week of November to decide on everyone from October.

So, I guess by the end of the first week (Nov. 6) they may have a decision. But I would just check every couple days I guess at the end of the day.

When I was there they said that the adcom will meet at the end of the month.
However, I was also under the impression that they do things a little differently than AZCOM. I came away thinking that we might get a phone call before the status page was actually updated.
I'll still be checking my status compulsively though 🙂

I was wondering if someone had similar issues logging into their midwestern applicant account. For some reason, the webpage is not recognize either my accomas ID number or my permanent zipcode, or my last name. I'm using the information I put in my accomas application so there should be no confusion about that. I tried calling for assistance but they were no help, they were confused as I was. My primary application is still in being verified by accomas. Could that be the reason why the system is not recognizing me? I'm assuming that once accomas is finished with the verification process, then they submit all my info to the specific schools right? I'll try calling midwestern for help but if anyone can shed some light onto this issue, I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Im not sure if I'm understanding what your saying either. But, if your primary application is still being verified it has not been released to CCOM and there would be no way they would even know who you are. Why are you going onto Midwestern application account anyway?

Yeah sorry about the confusion. I called ccom and they confirmed what you suggested. They haven't received my primary so obviously they wouldn't have me in their system yet. Stupid me. I was trying to set up an applicant account because the admissions office suggested it. They said I could keep track of my application status once i go through the supplemental material. Doesn't everyone do that?

Correct, that's is how you track your status. However, you need to first complete via AACOMAS and secondly CCOM has to send you a secondary request.

Do you really not know how the application process works? You may want to browse SDN for awhile and get ready to apply next year....
