i submitted my secondary on the 14th of October...still haven't heard anything back yet. What's the turnaround time been for everyone?

I have decided to choose CCOM over Nova. This was NOT an easy decision. I was totally impressed with Nova and was absolutely dead-set on attending that school.

I think what really pushed me in the direction of CCOM was the location as I have a support network here in case something happens, I like CCOM's hospital rotations, the great networking opportunities with physicians here as I would most likely end up practicing and wanting to do a residency here anyway (WAAAAYY over 50% of grads do residency in Illinois), CCOM's reputation/name, and the access to do research the summer between MSI & MSII while at Nova this is somewhat more difficult.

Yeah, CCOM's tuition is higher, but with cost of living it would almost come out even, as I have places I can stay here if money is an issue while in Florida it is all me!!

Finally, I am sure some of you may have more questions about my decision so please PM me if you do. Thanks!! Good luck to everyone else and to whoever gets my spot at Nova!

Sweet, I also made a difficult decision to pass up on my state school of WesternU to attend CCOM as well. Hopefully I'll see you around.

I interviewed last week and they said the committee would probably be meeting within the next couple of weeks. We should hear by early December.

I interviewed on the 11/2 so I have to wait so long before I know. Sucks haha

Due to finals + Thanksgiving break, it's my understanding that the committee won't be able to meet for a while and those who interviewed in November won't hear until really late in the month or early December.

Does anyone know if CCOM takes a little longer to review secondaries than some other schools? I got interview invites from DMU, KCOM, and RVU-COM pretty quickly but I haven't heard a peep out of CCOM since I was complete and CCOM is one of my top choices so I am a bit antsy

It's hard to say, I applied to DMU and PCOM and sent in my secondary at the same time as I did with CCOM and I haven't heard anything from either DMU or PCOM.

Yeah, I suppose every school is just looking for something a little bit different! I will just sit tight and hope to hear from them but am really grateful for the interviews I have!!!

Ya, I think I did. I was there like a half an hour early and the door was locked too... thankfully there was a student that walked by and opened the door haha.

Complete in 8-11.......have not heard a thing. I e-mailed and the guy told me there has been no decision made on my account yet.................THATS OVER 3 MONTHS. How could they make someone wait that long and why??

Have there been any denials before an interview yet? Any ideas?

I was complete on 8/6, and sent them an email today asking what was up. I received a reply to the tune of "A letter was sent through US Mail, you should be getting it shorty"

100+ days to make a decision. Oh well, helps me verify my AZCOM choice.

I'm in a similar boat as you. Complete around the first wk of August. Haven't heard from them since. I haven't called them though.

cGPA 3.20, sciGPA 3.30, 25 MCAT. Not even close to their standards, but 1) What a great program!, and 2) It never hurts to shoot for the stars 🙂

Its a great school, and the closest DO school to me (good job Indiana for being surrounded by states with DO schools....idiots...)

I applied knowing it was a long shot and I'm actually just glad I can stop crossing my fingers and move on with the process!

Similar stats as you! 3.5 and 25R. I guess i'll be getting one of those rejection letters as well.. Although i was hoping they would at least wait for my fall grades from master's prog.. Anyway, congrats on AZCOM! I loved the campus when i visited 🙂 and you'll be out of the midwest winter next yr! 🙂

I can't even remember but I think only like a week and a half ago but it feels like years. Yea I was grilled and I don't think the interviewers liked my answers too much. I have been accepted but I really wanna go to ccom

Your stats are above he avergae, but the rest of your app should be considered as well. Current student stold me CCOM usually gets at least 50% of their class filled, i.e. put down deposits, by December of the application year.

Also, judging from other posts, CCOm can take a while to review your app for interview. Took about 2 1/2 months for me after I submitted by secondary

I thought my interview went horribly. I had already had one before so I thought I would have more confidence. They have some tough panels. Im sure you did fine.

I sent them an email asking them when we would be getting any word back this morning. They replied back with:

CONGRATULATIONS! You've been accepted to CCOM! (Bit longer). WOO!

Yeah I checked it but nothing has changed as of yet.

My portal hasn't changed to reflect my acceptance either. They just replied to my email saying I was accepted and to expect stuff in mail sometime this week.

As for my stats: 35N, 3.67cGPA, 3.75sGPA, 100+ hrs of volunteering and shadowing, basic and clinical research, tutor, clubs...

Where are you thinking about heading to next year doxy? You have already got accepted to CCOM, right?

Yeah I got accepted a while back and was 99% sure I was going here. I am def embarrassed to say this but like I'm sure you may have(and many other DO applicants), I applied to allopathic schools as well and to my surprise got into a few of them. So given the choice, I am going to have to go to an MD program - which one as of yet I am not sure. My main goal in this whole process was to get into med school and achieve my goal - MD or DO but given the choice at least for me (and my DO family physician's advice), the MD will make things easier if I decide I want to specialize.

What about you? Are you thinking CCOM? I really loved it there when I interviewed, great campus and atmosphere, nice/happy students, excellent rotations and reputation.
