I'm currently debating between two ideas to use for those secondaries that are focused on challenges/adversity.
The first is about simultaneously adjusting to US culture after attending middle school in China and also living in a single parent household through high school. My dad had to stay in China so it was just my mom, sister, and me living in the US. I had a lot of difficulties connecting with my peers due to some big cultural differences and having to take care of my sister who had a chronic disability. The two big reflections I've taken away are connecting with those from different cultures and also coming to terms with the divide between personal needs and familial obligations. I do talk about my sister in my PS but don't mention any of the other things.
The second topic is about a pretty severe injury I had in high school while playing tennis. It took me out from playing any sports for the next 2 years and I still haven't fully recovered to this day. I've had to do a lot of reflection about my own health over the years and gained a lot of resilience/patience in doing PT. I mention this briefly in my work/activities section but I'd have a lot more to say if I do write about it here.
My main worry with these two ideas is that they're both very longitudinal rather than focused on a single event. I'm not sure if one is better than the other and I just wanted to get some opinions.
