General Challenge Essay

Many schools ask a combined challenge/diversity essay and I wrote about being raised by a single mother and what I have learned from that and how it gives me a unique perspective, but I am wondering if I should not focus on that since it involves my early life and med schools might want something more different. I can rewrite it, however it is the most significant challenge I have faced.

I think this topic is fine for either of those prompts.

I think the household where you were raised is appropriate but can you describe situations where you felt it was a disadvantage? What would interest me would be any reflections where you found that your non optimal background was an advantage.
