How many students do they interview normally? Interview 100 if they have 10 spots? Or 50 for 10 spots?

Totally depends on the program and specialty. The general rule is about 8-10:1 interviews:spots but there are programs that interview much more selectively and will interview in a 5:1 ratio.

There's no way to know and nothing you can do about it though.
