I have been waitlisted at 6 schools: Oklahoma, Minnesota, LECOM, Nova, UNE, and USC.
I told my interviewer at UCSF that it was my #1 choice regardless of my residency in Texas and got rejected. What do you guys think of my chances now after being waitlisted at all of these schools? I really thought my odds are in my favor since these schools took a chance on me and have overlooked my RC score.

I have a 16 RC 18 BIO 20 AA 20 TS 21 PAT and graduated with CHEM BS. Still attending my university as a POST-BAC taking few classes. BCP is 3.3

if i were u, i would retake the dat by january, and raise your bio and rc (arguably the 2 most imp sections). and hope to get off the waitlist. a postbacc will indeed help you, but i dont think your GPA is what placed you on the waitlist (looking at your school list). plus, how much of your GPA can u really raise in one semester ?
If u want to try your hardest to get accepted this cycle and get off the WL, DAT again & continue ur postbacc...imo.
gluck👍

I have to think you will get into 1 of your 6 wait listed schools, that is a lot of wait lists. I would continue your post-bacc as planned and consider a DAT retake as suggested. However, you could risk sitting on your DAT score through the end of the cycle and hope you get in without that torture of taking the DAT again....it seems like you have a real shot of getting in as is.

you saw WL on aadsas or email

I think that you have a good chance at an acceptance. I'd send a letter of intent to the school that you want to attend the most.

Taking the DAT won't do anything. Most schools require your score to be sent in by a certain deadline. Usually by dec 1. Letter of interest is a good idea.

I'd send a letter of intend and call ALL of the schools!

Maybe you need to work on your interview skills? It seems really unusual for someone to get that many interviews and not get an acceptance

i had 5. i thought i nailed couple of my interviews. yet no response.

I don't think its my interviewing skills. I felt good and confident after my interviews, im a social guy and enthusiastic as well. I dunno i feel so bummed out.

I am considering sending a letter of interest to all 6 schools and do a followup on them. Or should i send 5 letters of interest and 1 letter of intent? I applied to 51 schools so hoping for more post dec interviews

When did your UCSF rejection come?

You guys mind enlightening me of what exactly is a letter or interest or letter of intent? I understand the gist of its purpose, but what kind of content do you put inside the letters?

I believe that only your DAT scores are holding you back. 6 wait lists sounds like a lot so hopefully you get into to one or more. I wish I could tell you that I was accepted to one and rejecting the offer so the wait list would start moving but I have no such news for you. I suspect you'll get into one. Sucks that you have to just spend more time waiting. Good luck!

Yeah.. what is the difference between letter of interest and intent exactly..
I guess intent > interest..?

Reason why I applied to 51 schools is because I dont want to go thru another emotional roller coaster by retaking the Dat

Do you have more interviews coming up? I think your DAT should be fine since you've got some interviews, maybe try to improve your interviewing skills. I have read about 5 books how to interview well because I applied pretty late and wanted to do well on my interviews. Here is one of the books I've read (I didn't buy any books, just got them from the library):

http://www.amazon.com/The-Medical-S...=1354594391&sr=8-1&keywords=medical+interview

Hope it helps! Again, don't give up, people do get accepted on a WL and you have 6 🙂

Hmm I feel like you have a really high probability of acquiring an acceptance to LECOM a lot of people seem to be turning down offers. I, personally, am going to to turn down my seat so I hope you get it. And if this is any concession, I know what it's like to want to go to a school so bad and get wait listed. I didn't get into UTHSCSA in the first wave, and I was (still am) devastated.
I hope you get into a school that you really want to go to!

Thank you so much for doing that and thank you for understanding. I hope u get into UTSA and I dunno about the texas schools since none have invited me yet. I just hope I can stand a chance against new interviewees at LECOM since they interview all the way to april?

I don't think you should have much of a problem. While I was interviewing there, Stephanie said that after Dec. 3rd only about 40% of the people actually accept the offer; therefore, even with the new interviewees I think you'll have a great chance of getting a seat.

aznboi! Keep your head up buddy.

I will also drop my acceptance to LECOM so that'll open up a spot. Also, USC continues to accept applicants in waves, so don't lose hope. Many, I repeat, MANY applicants get accepted post-december off the waitlist!

I heard certain schools give out more interviews post-december, like Tufts. I'm also waiting on them. But I wouldn't give up hope on the schools you have yet to receive an interview from either.. I'm still waiting on a bunch as well

Since you interviewed early, I've heard waitlists move faster for pre-dec interviews. Not sure if it's true or not.

I would speculate that you'll get into a school within this cycle!

hey aznboi89x..... sorry to hear about your situation. I'm pretty much as bad as yours. I'm 0 for 5. I felt really good after my interviews as well and I got nada today. I think i know what you are feeling and what you are going through. I know it's tough, but hopefully we will get in off the wait-list buddy!

Send a letter of intent to all 6 schools telling them that they're your #1 choice. After each interview I mailed out handwritten thank you letters to each interviewer and dean that I met, followed by a 'letter of intent' to each program...I wasn't taking my chances. Result: An acceptance from every school I interviewed at. Best of luck, I think you have a good chance of getting yourself off these waitlists

Is it really that hard to get off of a wait list? You guys are making it seem like its almost impossible. I thought with so many people getting multiple offers wait lists would move pretty quickly? Do schools send out enough invites to fill their entire class on dev 3rd? I thought they only do around half which means atleast 1 more big round of acceptances should be coming right? I'm currently sitting on 0 acceptances and 3 wait lists so this is freaking me out lol

Lol, schools look to fill the entire class by January, but since applicants receive multiple offers, they only end up filling about 70-85% of the class. THIS was the big round of acceptances

Really? That high by January? Assuming a class of 100, that leaves about 15-30ish spots left. Think an average school interviews maybe 500 applicants? If we factor out the first 70 offers who were for that school the cream of the crop, that is a veryyyy slim chance. Top 15-30 people out of 400+ plus is pretty rough.

This isn't my first application cycle, but luckily its my last since Ive received multiple offers. I am only going off recent conversations that Ive had with the individual schools I was accepted to, I am sharing the information that I was given. Never give up hope. By next week, schools will be assigning waitlist positions

Ohh I see. Well thanks for the info and congrats!

I'm pushing for you bro. I hope you hear some good news as well!

You will definitely get in...patience and time! GL

With the shotgun approach to ds application it is unlikely that your letters of interest or intent will be taken seriously.

I know 4 people that are turning down NOVA (which is a good school, just high $). Their wait-list should move a lot. Good luck!

Please!
How do we know we are on the waitlists?

Thank you so much for what you're doing. It means a bunch to me. Hard work does pay off and I believe if u really want it that badly u go the extra mile.

I will most likely be turning down NOVA as well because I got into my state school.

Thank you very much if u did. Hoping for the best

Are you kidding? You actually did this? Do you realize how bad it is to lie about something like this? Not to mention unethical? You could've written to the schools saying that they're one of your top choices or something, but it is extremely bad to tell schools that they are your #1 choice and that you will attend if they accept you, if you don't mean that.

I have no words. This is disturbing.

I already wrote a letter of interest to all 5 schools saying "one of my top choices" and give "serious consideration". None of my letters said my number one choice. I have yet to send one out.

I agree with what jean grey says. It's not a good idea to lie and say its your top choice. Terrible idea. What aznboi did is a better idea. I have 2 more interviews coming up in my state, so if I get accepted to one of them, I may not go to nova. I wish you luck aznboi

I remember reading that you applied to 51 schools months back when I was working my application.. I guess that was a good considering you got 6 interviews.. I know it sucks that you got waitlisted at all of them.. but keep your head up.. you might hear good news on Jan 3rd.. maybe call the schools and ask if a DAT retake would boost up your chances? if they say yes, study for it, and book your test after Jan 3rd..

Best of luck buddy

if it makes you feel better, since NYU upped the class size to 360, you have a solid shot at a post dec interview from them with your stats (imo). i hope all goes well!
