I go to a P/F school; however, in one of my courses I failed the practical portion in the sim clinic but passed during the remediation, so my transcript now says F/P for that course. How big of an impact does this have when applying to residencies in the future? I have a good amount of extracurriculars and have research experience in dental school. I'm not trying for ortho or OMFS, but more along the lines of peds or anesthesiology.

You make it sound like these are less competitive. Both peds and anesthesia are very competitive. I don’t think one F will kill your, but you better make up for it with other experiences (externships, shadowing, etc)

Pretty good odds really
And those numbers are only for people who received at least one interview. A fair amount won’t receive any invites. Depending on how many apply that cycle, your odds may be as low as 50-60%. I wouldn’t call those great odds, it’s almost a coin toss.

Well, compared to the odds of getting into a decent undergrad or dental school its pretty good. Not to mention some applicants may have gotten 1+ interviews but are clearly behind the ball and will be easily passed over for solid, competitive applicants. I would be really worried about trying to get into ortho though!

Ortho is also around 50-60%.

I believe the "Applicants Participating in the Match" are people who interview that ranked a school in match. I believe more people apply than this, correct? They just didn't receive an interview invite/participate in the match. So if you get an interview it would be a 50-60% chance of getting accepted.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Edit: just saw your other post - scratch all this lol
