Hey all!
Anyone have any idea if schools are going to require Sociology to adjust to the new MCAT?
Also, can someone tell me about Biochem becoming more of a requirement from schools? Do any schools consider OChem II as Biochem?

Whether it's a requirement or not is somewhat irrelevant - I'd think it'd be a good idea to take it since, you know, it's going to be on the exam. But I suppose if you feel comfortable with the material.

Again, you should take ochem 2 because it's going to be on the exam. Biochem will not. I don't know of any schools that will allow you to substitute courses like that. If anything I think it would be the opposite: both courses are more likely to be required (or "strongly recommended").

I found biochem to be the single most useful course for the MCAT. Organic chemistry might cover similar topics, but biochem approaches the topics from a different perspective. Bio-organic (likely what you call Ochem II) will teach you about the mechanisms of biochem, but biochem teaches you how everything fits together. You should take both.

I am biased though. I think bio without biochem is a really useless subject. Nothing makes any sense. It's just memorizing a bunch of words.
