I just called them again today. They said my application has been ranked but that it is still being reviewed (??). I asked when I would know the status of my application and was told that I would not hear anything for a long while because they still have tons of applicants to interview. Sigh... another looong wait ahead of me.

awww... well, to quote the state, "POOP!" i knew that'd happen to me as well so i only applied to two CA schools, technically. but i had been getting a rejection letter, consistently, on a weekly basis for the last two months. they're all on my coffee table -- i don't know what to do with them. i think there are about 20 rejections there. (i'm still waiting for more).

I'm sorry Moto! That sucks. My collection of california rejection letters are still waiting on UCI and Stanford where I seem to be on permanent pre-interview hold.

i don't understand why they have us on permanent hold! not that i even care anymore because it's not like they'll interview me (they = UCI). but at the risk of sounding like a whiney 4 year old, that's so stuuuuuupid! why don't they just send the rejection letter already? like i give a ****. it'll just go with the rest of my rejection letters....

That is Great!!! That episode was crazy! I have about 15-20 rejections as well, so I better get screaming!

I am still waiting to hear from Drew as well & I interviewed about a month ago. I can't imagine them having to many more interviews b/c they said they would rank us on 3/25. This is getting nerve racking!

My roommates are now copying me when they get junk mail - it is quickly becoming a house joke (the neighbors think we are nuts).

OK.. just a few more days until the 25th.. we can MAKE it. Hmm.. I wonder how soon after the 25th we will start to hear things.

I heard the same thing minus mine being ranked... that was a 2 weeks ago when I called though... so maybe they just ranked mine...

For those that interviewed prior march 25th, its going to be a couple of weeks before a decision is made. I was told they have reviewed the files but haven't yet made decisions on many applicants.

anyway, i think everyone on this thread could take me out of the running, maybe. as much as i liked the program (the projects, the clinic, etc) and the academic opportunity, i realized just how much i need to bounce out of california for a bit (it's the same everywhere!). that and i was kinda worried/disappointed about king/drew county.

did anyone else feel the same? (about the county hospital?) anyway, good luck to you all 🙂 👍

I received a phone call today and my heart skipped a beat... but it was just a phone call saying that they received my email and that I will hear about my status in a couple of weeks.... I also I received a rejection from my alma mater today.. sigh..

OK - that is cruel... a phone call to tell you to wait some more. I wonder if they giggled when they hung up the phone at how excited you sounded lol. I think if I see an LA area code on my caller ID I will faint.

Yup, you definitely get a great feeling when its from an area code you know is not one of your normal calls. Thats weak that they called you for something else. Good luck everyone!

i want to vent about drew though: the WAY THEY CONDUCTED THE INTERVIEWS. the program is superawesome though 👍
i know i should put this down in the interview feedback section of sdn but i'll say it here: the student interviewer was all hunched over her desk while grilling me with oh-so-standard-boring-doesn't-really-get-to-know-you questions and furiously scribbling everything. that's fine, but i think we only made eye contact like 3 times, one second each. she was also quite aloof. the faculty interviewer was supernice and i thought we had a good conversation, but she was HIDING her paper of notes she was writing about me the way some crazy high school a.p. class student would to keep you from peering over her shoulder. when i tried to make eye contact she folder up her paper towards herself and was covering the rest of it with her other hand. i think i'm better than that! :/ i have to give her points for pretending not to hear my stomach growl through the interview though.

That sucks that you got bad interviewers. I'm sure you can get bad interviewers at other places too... I remember them jotting a lot of things down also during my interview, it can be distracting b/c the interviewer is concentrating on writing something down. Just as long as you get everything out, everything you wanted to say about yourself and why the program is a good match for you, you should be coo...

I would agree with red dot that the interviewers determination to "fill in the blanks" on some form during the interview did lead to a rather unnatural feel to the interview. Maybe in the future, they can just ask that the interviewers complete the forms AFTER the interview is over instead of during the interview.
