Hey guys! Could you please help with this question?

The members of which pair are most similar in color?
(A) chlorine, Cl2(g), and bromine, Br2(l)
(B) silver chloride, AgCl(s), and silver sulfide, Ag2S(s)
(C) copper(II) chloride, CuCl2(s), and calcium chloride, CaCl2(s)
(D) potassium permanganate, KMnO4(aq), and iodine, I2(g)

Hmmm...I wanna say choice (B), but I'm not sure. My reasoning is that both AgCl and Ag2S have "Ag", which is a transition metal and capable of forming complex ions that result in highly colored solutions. According to the following website, AgCl is "Pearl Gray" and Ag2S is "Led Gray." So, since they are different shades of Gray, their colors resmble most closely.

Thank you NZ, I had similar reasoning but the book sais that the correct answer is D:shrug:.
 
I don't recall color being covered in my review books...where did you guys learn about this?

All I learned about color was that complexes that have empty D orbitals in either one or both of their substiuents will be colored.
