I will be graduating from PSU (one of the sattelite campuses) in the spring with a bachelor's in business. I was looking into taking the pre-reqs for med school at this same campus.

The school that I was looking to apply for stated this as one of their pre-reqs:

"Chemistry: Two years of college chemistry (organic and inorganic) with laboratory is required. The principles of physical chemistry are particularly helpful."

My campus offers the following Chem classes:

CHEM 011 INTRODUCTORY CHEMISTRY ( 3) Selected principles and applications of chemistry. Prior study of chemistry not assumed.

CHEM 012 (GN) CHEMICAL PRINCIPLES ( 3) Basic concepts and quantitative relations.

CHEM 013 (GN) CHEMICAL PRINCIPLES ( 3) Continuation of CHEM 012, including an introduction to the chemistry of the elements

CHEM 014 (GN) EXPERIMENTAL CHEMISTRY ( 1) Introduction to quantitative experimentation in chemistry.

CHEM 015 (GN) EXPERIMENTAL CHEMISTRY ( 1) Continuation of CHEM 014, with emphasis on analytical procedures.

CHEM 017 (GN) INTRODUCTORY AND GENERAL CHEMISTRY ( 5) Introductory chemistry and chemical principles for students who are required to take additional chemistry, e.g., CHEM 013, but are unprepared for CHEM 012 Lab

Since school is on break, I was wondering if any of you guys would know if these classes would meet the requirments. The descriptions given by PSU do not state if they are organic or inorganic chems.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Inorganic = general chemistry

you have to take general chem before you take organic chem (hence the 2 years requirement).

you should def ask your school which chemistry courses would qualify under the premed requirements.

according to the description of each course--i think the first general chem that would quality would be chem 12. you should also see if a lab accompanies this course (in my school a lab did accompany my gchem course)--in your case, the lab might be chem 14.
