Do we dress formal or casual for orientation days?

And how is the white coat ceremony supposed to be? How long does it last?

The white coat ceremony's a small ceremony to acknowledge your entrance into the profession and welcome you to the school, and sort of a family day. You'll sit with your classmates in the auditorium, hear some speeches, a few words of wisdom, you'll have your white coat put on you by alumni on stage, shake hands with the Dean, and then recite the Hippocratic Oath for the first time with your classmates. It's a nice event, enjoy it. I don't think it was longer than an hour or so. Takes a while to go through 185 students, though.

are parents coming for the white coat ceremony for most of u?

mine are, and my grandparents

Mine said they would come if I wanted them to, but how inconvenient could RFU have made it? A Wednesday night? That means they would have both had to take two days (at least) off of work, travel, get a hotel, etc. I thought it was more trouble than it will be worth. Do you upperclassmen disagree with that? It seems like most people's are coming...😕

I dont get it, its been on friday for the past 2 years, and usually worked out fine. It seems like theyre totally revamping orientation though. This is the first time theyve done an all-university orientation, and it seems to be extended a bit longer.

Ah well, if you guys go downtown for any of the evening 'activities', expect to see me there! 😎

So when do we get our $$? Do they give us a check at orientation or an opportunity to set up direct deposit?

I talked to finaid today, they said that they deduct tuition and then place the rest in your student account at the business office. Although I am still confused how it all works out, I have been spending out of pocket for supplies and what not the last couple of days and definitively like my money back.

yeah you get a check (or direct deposit credit to your bank account if you signed up way ahead of time) usually no later than the first week of classes.

also just want to say welcome to all the incoming M1's who are moving in. hope everythings going smoothly!

Anyone else feel like we arent getting much work to do yet? Am I missing something here?
