Chicago State University Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
According to Pharmcas 84 students were accepted and 15 of those were out of staters. Ellison said that they would probably accept 87 and 15-20 spots are available. But we did interview early. I don't know if that will play a role or not. I've never been so anxious in my life lol.😳 When did you interview?

I wouldn't put a # on the amount of OOS students they have admission for... Its definitely arbitrary.

Congrats to all of those accepted into the CSU C/O 2013! Can't wait to meet you all in the fall so the faculty has someone else to pick on :meanie: haha j/k.. kinda. lol

Hontou desu ka? Hmm... Guess I have to "Take heart and keep the beat going".... Good luck to those interviewing on the 23rd... and to those who might be interviewing before then 🙂!

misconception on hold process.... they keep on looking at our applications

FYI:
Those on waitlist have higher priority then us.... if all those people on the wait list are granted admission (very rare) then our app's will be looked at..👎

Are there a plethora of people on the waitlist?

Has anyone received the matriculation agreement?

congrats to everyone who has been accepted 😀 i had a question for those who are in the first class. what do you guys like about it? Im from chicago and i dont want to leave but all the other schools ive interviewed at were out of state.

is being placed on hold/ waitlist essentially the same thing?... because i haven't heard anyone being placed on waitlist just on hold.

ummm idk if i wowwed them, but i think i did OK. I was expecting a hold b/c i haven't finished all the pre-req's ( i need to take a class in the summer). When i was interviewing with the assistant Dean, he told me that the school really doesn't like summer courses. So i dont know how i got accepted😕😕

Where are you from babakpharm?

James, for the people on hold do you know the earliest we can hear something or will they just wait for the end of the application cycle and look at our applications again? Im guessing there are going to be a lot of applications that they will be going through...🙁

UIC has a cap of 10% OOSers for its healthcare fields and SIUe has effectively no OOSers. Those are the two large public healthcare colleges in Illinois

WTF. Why is this school so ridiculously difficult to get a hold of? I received an email regarding my references. I PROMPTLY replied to the email, then called and left voice messages after there was no response. Is Amalia THAT busy that she can't check her inbox/ voicemail? What a waste of my time and ****ing money.

That's odd, Amalia usually gets back to you ASAP. I would email her and if it was before 4 I would usually get a response that same day. Something must have happened. Idk...

ok i know all the steps to becoming fully accreditated and i understand that all pharmacy schools have gone through this...but is there any reason to be worried about chicago state and its accreditation in particular?? i've been accepted and payed my downpayment but i am still worried about their status...anyone (specifically current p1 students) have any input on this topic???

Hey Congrats!

I've said this before but I'll say it again off the record... accredidation is not something any of us worry about. Its harder to explain to someone who's not in our situation yet and able to see how busy the faculty are preparing for accredidation. But the faculty works very hard, and are some of the best in the pharmacy business.... as said earlier, our dean started 2 schools of pharmacy previously before this one (Both Midwestern's) and also the rest of our faculty are all VERY experienced. Professors from UIC, Ohio State, University of Connecticut, Hampton, and some of them are Harvard Graduates... And they work really really hard. In fact, the professors that aren't teaching this semester only responsibility is to work on accredidation paper work.

But like I said. I was EXACTLY in your situation last year and ran to my family everyday saying to them to pray that we get accredited loll... now I kinda look back and think I was being kinda naive, but only because I didn't know what was going on at the CSU COP. So once June 20-25th comes around, expect to get an email saying we have Candidate status.

Again congrats, definitely happy to see someone like you joinin us!

Got my Acceptance email today! I am sooooooo stoked!!!! Can't wait!!!. I agree with you James, I saw nothing but devoted faculty and I am honored to be one of the chosen individuals! Next Step, look for apartments!

I interviewed March 16 and rec'd my acceptance letter today..😀

yeah, out of state here too. I'm 99.9% sure I'll be attending, regardless of the other schools' other decisions. I was highly impressed when I left the school.

Thanks!!😀 I'm probably the only out of stater who is almost purely sure he's going, but has anyone looked at any apartment info? Anyone from Chicago got any tips or pointers. Looking for apartments in Florida is very different from looking for them up north. We are so spoiled down here lol, especially in college towns like gainesville

Just got an email for an interview for April 6th, kinda late but happy at the same time! Any advise or any hints will be helpful!

I would'nt worry too much about having a late interview because CSU does'nt make final decisions till May 15th. However, they have began handing out acceptance letters, but there are still quite a few opening left from what I have been hearing. Be genuine in your interview and you'll be fine. good luck!

thank you! I just needed reassurance i guess lol...but yea i would've been doing the same thing as you last year lol! i know that the faculty is verrry hard working and over qualified, i never doubted that, i guess i was just scared for no reason. thanx again

Like a few others I had some problems communicating with csu...they waited a pretty long time to tell me that I didn't have the proper references. And then as I'm scrambling to get some new ones sent in, they call me today to interview this Thursday. A little weird...but ill take it. Now i just need to find someone to borrow a car from, anyone else interviewing thursday?

Anyone heree interveiwing on April 6th! Is there any essays to write or any group activities to do here? Kinda nervous!!!

It's a 5 hr day... you will enjoy it, they really make you feel comfortable. there is no essay and no group activity.
Good luck to those interviewing next week!!!!

As earlier said by others, its a funfilled day. You should not be nervous because the whole process is very relaxing and everyone is nice. There are no group activities or essays, but that does not mean you should not talk to the other students. Try to talk to everyone, and do something to stand out. I heard there are two session interviews (morning and afternoon) on monday. Does anyone know? And those who interviewed on thursday and friday, what was the number of applicants who came for interview?

anyone heard back from the school after 03/23 interview?..will they send email or letter?

Today was the last of the interviews. JUst giving you guys an update and heads up. I forgot when they said all decisions would be made. But we're definitely excited to find out who's gonna be joining us in the fall.

Hey James, getting kinda nervous as I attended the march 23rd interviews. When do you expect decisions to be made for that date? Thanks and I guess patience is virtue as the nerve wrecking wait will be forgotten with the hopeful good news! Good Luck everyone !🙂

i was on the 23rd interview too..did we meet...PM me..and tell me more about u ..am sure we met..😀

im declined my acceptance! For thos who are waiting good luck😀

I'm still waiting on the matriculation agreement information... CAN'T WAIT!

The interviews are done, now we hopefully will know our decisions very soon; can't wait :xf:

Hi James! Were you one of the students that were part of the interviews? I think you were the student that interviewed me during the panel interview (morning) 23rd. I dont know if it was you but I was the one that said that my finance was a pharmacist. I am really really nervous for their decision. I remember them saying that we were going to send everyone an email the next week on decisions but I havent heard from anyone yet. This is completely making me sssooo nervous. Did they say when decisions would be made?

I urge everyone to remain calm (eventhough i am not) and just be patient with the results. The dean had surgery, and so he has not been in school for a while now. So im sure when he got back on monday, he had a bunch of files to go over. But since the interview process is over, we should start expeting. And also, the chances of getting in are even much higher than many people thought. So lets just hold on to ourselves and wait for that faithful morning when you recieve your acceptance email, (cuz such emails come in the morning......lol!) I hope the process goes succesfully and we too can take a rest. This part where we have to wait is just the worst part. This has been he worst 1 week i have ever had in my educational life, filled with anticipations. So lets just keep on hoping for the best...everybody!

I am in the same boat as everyone..the wait is killing me..its been two weeks but nothing yet, i am even scared to check my email everyday ...pray everyone

Scared to check my email everyday? LOL, I am feeling the exact same way!

I guess you can say that considering that they received 500 some completed applications and giving 200 some interviews for their 87 seats. So good luck everyone!

So the admissions comittee met today wednesday! Definately some decision emails should be going out pretty soon, especially those who interviewed in march. UIC applicants recieved their email decisions today, and those who got in are very excited because many are called, but few are choosen. I hope in our case, it wil be many are called, and many are choosen.....so cheer up everyone, and lets keep on holding on!
