In terms of the AMCAS application process, when is the wisest time to take the MCAT for the FIRST time if I plan to (God willing) attend a medical school in fall of 2010 and also have sufficient time to retake the MCAT if necessary?

Must I have already recieved my MCAT score by the time I apply?

If someone could direct me to a link on AAMC where I could find this information in writing, I would really appreciate it. Thanks!

Have you been doing MCAT prep? If not, I'd say you need to start now, and you shouldn't try to take it before the summer. The latest date to test is in Sept. but some schools won't accept that score. So that's put you re-taking in August, getting scores two weeks before then, and testing 30 days before that. I'd say at the absolute latest, you'd need to test in mid-July. This will still but you behind the rush, as you're app wouldn't be complete (with the first set of scores) until mid-August.

Start now with your MCAT prep! I agree with ksmi117 - make sure you are PREPARED prior to taking the test. This means taking practice AAMC exams on line to determine if your scores are in your desired range. There is no point in taking the real thing prematurely. It'll be a push, so stay organized with your entire application. Good luck!
