Could anyone comment on the University of Cincinnati program? I can't find any information on Scutwork about this program and it would be great to hear anything!
Thanks. 🙂

ii heard they have a big guy who deals with retinal tumors especially

Here's what I remember about my Cincy visit:
-the chairman (Dr. Augsberger) is the renowned ocular oncologist ZR1 mentioned in the previous post
-the program director (blanking on his name) is very interested in teaching and is involved in some sort of national residency teaching initiative (can't remember the specifics)
-the University resident clinic was pretty outdated and rundown, and you will be spending a lot of time there
-the VA has recently been refurbished and is (or will soon be) the regional referral center for VA retina surgeries (great if you are interested in retina)
-huge children's hospital (great if you are interested in peds)
-all of the facilities are within walking distance of each other
-you do get to do some work (limited, if I remember correctly) with the CEI staff
-residents seemed happy

That's about all I can remember. Hope it helps.

Thanks so much for the responses - they were all very helpful! If anyone thinks of anything else, please post.
Thanks. 🙂

Karl Golnik is the fastest man in Ohio. He won (overall, I think) the individual 40k state time trial championship a couple years back. That's bicycle talk to the rest of you knuckle-draggers.

I don't know much about this program but having pity on you as you haven't received any responses, I'll give it my best shot.

Off the top of my head, I've heard of Drs. Kulwin and Kersten, the oculoplastics staff, as well as Dr. Holland (cornea). Someone recommended the oculoplastics guys as someone you might want to do an oculoplastics fellowship with.

Dr. Kersten just came to our program as a guest speaker... very nice guy and good teacher. 🙂 Did his residency at Iowa so knows a lot of people across the States -- including people at our program.
