Oh man, I called up my university's registrar to ask if they had sent out the transcripts yet (they were holding for a grade that I got on Tuesday... 5 days late!!!! 😡😡) and they were going to send it out May 31st but I had them check for the grades and they were all in, so now they are going to send it out today. Good thing I called!

Now it's time to call my undergrad university's registrar and see if they've processed my request..

Probably worth it at least for the practice. But I repeated one of them and got a 44 (at least 9 months later), so don't expect them to be too predictive! 🙂

BD2B,

Have you ever used the GOld Standard CBTs? They are hard as crap, but you'll come out higher than that avg on the real thing. My GS avg was about a 22-24 (real thing 29).

They are cheap compared to the AAMCs and obviously not quite as good of material, but a good supplement for something new.

ok, bison. listen to chubs! he is a wise person. don't get too many books! I have about 1000 books and no time to go through them. It was a waste! Just get a good set of books and a lot of practice exams.

Yes Berken, I understand. 😀 I do have a lot of books myself. Just trying to make the right moves. Do u know where I can get the GS practice tests?

btw...www.goldstandard.com I think....But I didnt really like them...Only use them if you run out of other stuff.
 
If you click "yes" for the"Medical Minority Applicant Registry"when you register for the MCAT....does that automatically place you into the URM category?

Yeah, you can get them from their website: mcat-prep.com.
You can also get them from amzazon or ebay. Someone bought all 10 for $100 off amazon
 
Finally opened an Interfolio account because I'm convinced that it is the easiest way to do things... rather than doing it through my Career Center. And boy, it is pretty awesome! I already uploaded my AMCAS LOR request form, and true to Mr. Gaynor's posts, AMCAS is an institution that you can deliver your letters to in one package. It's pretty awesome...

I guess it's good for control freaks who prefer having control over all of this as opposed to having to walk over to Career Services with forms every time you want to mail something out. Anyone know any drawbacks to using Interfolio?

I'm pretty sure that signing up for that registry "flags" you, so med schools and medical programs that are not med school (like podiatry) can try to personally recruit you to apply to their programs. It can't hurt, so you might as well.

I have an amcas question:
I have about 30 units from AP credit assigned to my first semester of freshman year. How should I fill in the rest of my classes? Should I just fill in everything like my transcript says, or do I have to start with sophmore year?

I think you should list it as close to the transcript as possible. Just mark the AP credits with the 'AP' box. You might want to ask this question in the 2008-2009 AMCAS Questions sticky thread.

I'm in the same situation, but don't have an answer! I just listed it as my transcript did, because I thought it was less confusing that way. I may have been a sophomore by credits coming in, but it was still my freshman year.
 
Just checking in, sup guys 😛 I need girl advice cuz there's this girl I really like and I'm not sure how soon is too soon to ask her out. We've talked on the phone and on Facebook/AIM for the last couple weeks and I finally saw her in person today, we talked for like 3 hours about stuff even though she wanted to ask me a lot about what our internship is gonna be like (I did an internship last summer and she's going there too this summer w/ me). Any thoughts? 😛

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I've been waiting for an answer on the amcas 2008-2009 app thread, but nothing yet 🙁
 
Gotta say, this is the last place I'd go for relationship advice.

Go out to dinner, get to know her better, and if you two have an enjoyable time, ask if she wants to meet up again.

Or you could always sneak some roofies into her drink when she goes to the bathroom.*

Sorry - I thought that the dinner and a movie thing was a date. I couldn't tell if that was a work-related activity but I guess it is.

Don't worry too much about it - you'll be able to tell if you "click."
