I've signed up for Interfolio, but before i can request letters from my professors they all want a copy of my personal statement first.
 
mine don't care lol. still revising my new ps... last years rocked, but I started over pretty much from scratch, focusing more on my clinical experience and persistance as opposed to my actual bio background.
 
What is interfolio? Is it better than setting up a folder at your school? I am not sure if my school does have a thing where you can set up a folder and they send them out..if they dont, what do I do?

my school didn't have one and last year I sent out all my letters one at a time. it took forever and made me run later in the cycle than I wanted. interfolio stores your letters for u and then sends them out at your request within just a few days by snail mail or immediately by email.
 
Yeah! I can't believe that I'm applying... taking the MCAT on May 23rd.

BUMP! Going out to buy a suit for my pre-health interview/ fall interviews. First out of about 350 applicants at my school to schedule a pre-health interview. Sweet.

Hope everyone is doing well and getting excited to begin this year's cycle
 
yup. took a practice test yesterday and did well. gonna keep doing what I'm doing.

also got my lor packets ready to start handing out today.

I'm excited about early interviews.. I have an adorable suit that was too "fall" for my winter interview this year. 🙂
 
You can do it Gradu8in! You have been working really really hard and the Lord is going to honor that. He will give you the desires of your heart.

It is finals week for me here at Davis. Next week is spring break and boy am I excited! God bless yall.

Seriously, it's probably not the class's fault. It's my prof, busy work, and lack of explanation. And the fact that my time spent suffering through the busy work could be put to much better use studying for the REAL test.

30 days til MCAT! Time for a short catnap (still trying to get over the crud thats been going around) and then to studying. The organic quiz can wait. It gets one more hour tonight. :laugh:

Good thing I'm racking up my A's in there so far....

Hey Gradu8in, I am sorry but I have to disagree with you about Ochem, cuz I love it. I actually taught ochem 1&2 to students while I was in undergrad. It was one of my favorite courses.

I'm a bit surprised to not see a few DO school included in your prelim list. I would strongly encourage you to consider applying to a few DO schools and/or possibly consider enrolling in a postback program. You seem to have your app together well and you did well on the MCAT but a 3.20 is very low for any US Allo school. It would not be ideal for you to have to go through this process more than once. 🙂
 
Busy week for me ahead, gotta get a presentation and poster ready by Friday!!!

Thank goodness only 5 or so weeks left until summer vacation.

I really think it is my professor... he's a first year teacher and it's reallllly hard for him to get across the concepts without getting everyone completely lost.

Rolling into 5th week here.... 6 to go (including this one). Missed today due to family emergency... my grandfather had major emergency surgery yesterday and we didn't think he was going to make it. :scared: He's doing better today but not out of the woods yet... still on a vent and fighting blood pressure issues.

I'm looking forward to some of this stress being gone... 585 hours til mcat (25 days) and not much more than that of school. God is good, all the time! It will be nice to see this year come to an end.

Please keep my family in your prayers, those of you who are praying people (spec. BD2B 🙂)

I will def keep you and your family in prayer. God is good all the time! And in everything there is a blessing, sometimes we can't see it but that's ok cuz it forces us to trust in Him. The Lord is going to take care of your Grandfather. God bless!
 
thanks, BD. nothing new yet but he's holding his own. back to school today. praying my ochem teacher didn't have enough time to make a quiz for this week. i'm still trying to catch up on my mcat studying from the weekend.

I am taking classes as a post-bach (p.s. its not a postback) currently, and will continue to do so throughout the application cycle, its not an official program, i'm just taking upper level sci courses. As for the DO, I'm not interested in applying to one, I would continue taking classes as a post-bach if i needed to. Plus I just found out I'm approved for FAP, so will be applying for sure. Thanks for the input.
 
Hola everyone. I hope all of you are moving closer to the goal of getting that glorious acceptance letter, email, call, etc. Anyway, I just had a quick question: would you think that taking the June 13 MCAT would be considered getting a late start to the cycle? actually, a blessing from god occurred bd2b. our ochem prof had a sick kid this weekend and couldn't make a quiz. we'll get it thurs *roll eyes*.. but hey, i'll take anything!

as far as the june mcat, it shouldn't put you at too much of a disadvantage assuring the rest of your application is absolutely ready, cleared by amcas, and you have your lors. you should still be able to get secondaries in july/aug. it won't be as early as some of us but it won't be late.
 
Okay, we can start--I'm here.

Anyway, I'll be applying this year, but a bit late. I'm taking the MCAT July 18, and then I'll be submitting as soon as the scores are in. Hopefully that won't kill my chances at my top choices. :scared:
 
I got my last LOR out to the prof today ... yay!

Muddling through OChem one day at a time (35 hours left to go) and trying to study my a$$ off for that four-letter-word test in a few weeks. Made a 31 (first over-30) on a practice test yesterday... maybe there is hope yet!

How's everyone else in class of 2013 world? School killing ya? MCAT? Applications?

I'm just praising the good Lord that about 80% of my primary will roll over from last year 🙂🙂
 
Starting to get real anxious for the next year... when the whole application process begins. I'm seriously antsy and just want to be done with the semester.. so I can just stop taking classes.

I may have secured a nice job back at my alma mater as a research tech.. one of my friends who works back there says the salary that they're going to offer me is a LOT of $$ for a research tech. I might just have to go for that even though it means I have to either break my current lease or get someone to sublet for the last 3 months (my lease specifically says no subletting allowed, anyone know what I can do with that?).

Now, just need to get 2 more letters of recommendations from my professors here at Penn.. need to get on that ASAP since I need to meet a June 15 deadline for the committee letter.

I'm seriously anxious. I have no idea how much a 4.0 post-bac year and a jump from a 31 to a 35 on the MCAT will help (I'm a reapplicant from two cycles ago).. I got some new EC's to speak for me and am working on a new personal statement... but I'm just really anxious for the next year, and just hoping that the past year will be enough to get me over the hump.
 
well, I've done a little work on my ps but not much. it is sad... last yearls was amazing.

I figure I have a good few weeks after mcat to perfect it before time to turn it in.

one of the essays i wrote for my college apps was really reaaaally good. i keep being told that it sounds just like a personal statement and that i should use it for med school apps. if i just update the things i talk about, i think i'll be pretty solid. so i'm stoked i dont really have to start from scratch and have alreayd done many revisions and drafts. so well see how that works.
 
hey scarlet, i havent started either, but i have lots of random disconnected paragraphs sitting around. starting to get anxious about putting it all together.
 
haven't started ps or LOR stuff. just got back from spring break with my a cappella group. what is in a "LOR packet" that you all are getting ready for your profs?

A resume, list of extracurriculars, grades, etc. I cut & pasted a lot of my MDApps so that I could make it shorter this year... last year I used my primary and just printed most of it off.

Most of my profs know me pretty well, so it's more of a "what you DONT know about me" set.

Also include stamped and addressed envelopes, etc. I'm using interfolio this year and even though they have the option of online LORs I still gave each one a stamped envelope in case they want to snail mail them.
 
Anyone know of any pros/cons with submitting your AMCAS before your latest MCAT score has been released? I'd like to submit AMCAS early (beginning of June) but my MCAT test is July 8 and wont get score back till Aug 8.

So should I just send it with an older score and play chicken......or just wait until MCAT score comes back while having the rest of AMCAS app filled out and ready?

I'm submitting the first day I can and am not taking the MCAT until June 13. Due to the military I will have 6 transcripts, so it might take a while to get verified.
 
There's a place where you can indicate you are retaking... that way, you can still get verified for primaries, but most schools will hold your secondaries (unless you already qualify with your current score).
 
Just saying whatsup. Can't believe we have a little over a month until AMCAS becomes available. I'm thrilled to spend my summer writing secondaries (lol).

Has anyone had a pre-health committee interview yet? Trying to do mine soon so I don't have to worry about waiting on letters over the summer.
 
i feel way behind you guys. i finished my MCAT, but haven't started my PS or given my recommenders anything to write a LOR (i guess i should work on that this weekend). man i feel way behind 🙁
 
You're not quite the "class" of anything until you've actually been accepted!
