Hey everyone! Hope things are going well... I finally made it back to Richmond after my Vermont interview on Tuesday and things have been so crazy I haven't had a chance to come back on and report about it.

I think the interview went pretty well - the interviewer only asked me a few questions and none of them were difficult. It was very conversational and he seemed to like me a lot. At the end of the interview he said that he thinks I'm competitive for the school and he hopes that my interest in attending there continues. I'm probably going to get waitlisted anyway, but at least his parting words were positive.

My visit was pretty awesome. UVM is an incredible school - the facilities are amazing and Burlington is the perfect place for med school. There's enough going on where you won't get too bored but it's so laid back and relaxed that it won't cause any stress. The students there seemed really happy pretty close as a group. All of the faculty that we met were very respectful and friendly and really made us feel welcome. The admissions staff really went out of their way to make sure we were all relaxed and had an enjoyable day at the school.

My only concerns are that the OOS tuition is very expensive and Burlington does not provide the most divers patient population. Even still, though, I would love the chance to attend UVM and would be honored to continue my education there.

Now it's time to start thinking about VCU on Tuesday and UMD on Wednesday (super excited -- they're two of my top choices!)

I definitely agree. I am still sick from lack of sleep, and I have an 8 AM genetics class... woohoo!

Me too. I've been sick for a couple weeks. Finally on an antibiotic, but I don't think i'm going to get better until I've had a few days of solid sleep. Hopefully I can catch up this weekend.

Wish me luck on my synthesis exam. I've never gone into an exam so lost and confused before. Thankfully I'm taking the class pass / fail.

What the heck was I thinking taking a graduate level organic chemistry course?! Haha.

It's raining here right now, and it's supposed to continue until tomorrow night. We're supposed to get some thunderstorms tonight, and I'm hoping that the amusement park is closed so I don't have to go to work... I am just not in the mood to do four shows between 7:00 and 11:00 tonight. 🙄

gradu8in, that sounds awesome! Did you go in person or just watch it on TV?

Although it was drizzling and foggy, our park still opened tonight so we had our regularly scheduled four shows. It was pretty exhausting and I still have make-up/hair product all over my head - nasty...

Well I am at home sick... boo to that also. You are not supposed to get sick when you are in the end of September and the So Cal weather outside is 90 degrees... that sucks also...

Take a vitamin! It's helped me not get sick on my trips so far...I've gotten close but the multivitamin has helped every time!

Thanks, I am getting better, but the lack of sleep from interviews took a toll. I cannot fall asleep in the Eastern Timezone before 1AM, because that is 10 PM PST... and I have to return to the EST twice more... I have been sleeping like 10 hours to recover and hopefully I will be fine by Monday....

pianola... I thought you went to school in Florida?

Yeah, I'm under the weather myself. Still wheezy (had a bad bad asthma attack yesterday). The nebulizer and mucinex are helping, hopefully I can stay off steroids this time. It's too early in the asthma season to have to do that...

That's seriously why i think my sickness began.. this interview business is killer.

Maybe if we simply make it THROUGH interview season they should let us in... lol.

Not fun, at one of my interviews an interviewee had an asthma attack during their interview! They returned unable to breath and crying.
 
oh gosh that would be awful! I normally don't have attacks just in the middle of the day, normally they are exercise stress induced. the recent ones have been due to exhaustion
 
So what's up with this interview-invitation dry spell?

My interviews are all screwy -- I'm super-confused. Places I thought would be 'safer' aren't inviting me (and they ARE inviting tons of SDNers) and places I thought would be 'reaches' invited me to interview SUPER early 😕😕😕.

Such a strange process...
