Yah my roommates put water in cups, drink half the cup and leave the rest of it lying around. That might be the reason. Thanks rj!

Apparently there was a rotting sponge in the bathroom that the fruit flies were breeding on! There were so many larvae and pupa. I would have done genetic testing, but I have my research paper to do...

EDIT: It makes sense... Drosophila, dew lovers... they are attracted to moisture...

Nope, but I do have a research paper due in 3 hrs 45 min that I just started last night, which I was supposed to be working on for the past 8 weeks!

Pianola, it is cold here as well. The Sunbelt state peoples get cold easily... It is 50 degrees right now...

And it is 9 oclock there as well... hmm... that is odd. Gah, I need to do the end notes/ bibliography, but I forgot which type my professor assigned... Oh well, Good luck on midterms/ exams... I need to finish and beat my self, so next time I start earlier, because I do not do so well on only 4 hours of sleep...
 
You guys are wusses. Wind chill of 3 when I woke up here a few days ago. And that isn't even close to how bad it can get.

Hmmm... 12 page research paper... minimum 30 sources... due Monday... on the same day as my Molec Bio exam... and the day before my Biochem lab report.

I got this no problem 🙂

man, do i feel lucky. my thanksgiving break is for the whole week and I have nothing due before i leave town tomorrow. good luck to everyone with exams/papers/etc!

How did your test go, amph?

Did you get the paper done, funky? Have you turned it in yet?

My test was a little harder than I was expecting but I may still have done ok.

I have a rant.

I have been working full-time in the "real world" for about a year now, and I am appalled at its inefficiency. People get paid for 8 hours of work as "full-time". Now, I have a serious issue with this, because I don't really ever have to call people/pick up phone calls, so my being there 8 hours is irrelevant in terms of "being available" to people. So the other reason for the 8 hour workday theoretically is the fact that I should be putting in 8 hours of WORK. Now, this would be fine except I NEVER have 8 hours worth of stuff to do. Usually, if I'm efficient, I can get all my projects done in 4-ish. The thing is, I'm of the opinion that if I'm going to be sitting at a desk with stuff to do, I'm going to get that stuff done. So I get through things pretty quickly.

On the other hand, my colleague and supervisor Paul will get up and chat with coworkers (to complain about just how much stuff he has to do), go outside for "fresh air", and in general just need breaks all the time. I'd much rather get stuff over with.

So what ends up happening is that by 2pm, I'm sitting here doing nothing and he's super busy trying to actually get his stuff done. Which makes me look like a lazy bum and him look like the world's greatest employee. And I'm bored.

WHY oh WHY can't we be paid based on what we do instead of how long it takes us to do it??

Thankfully were were doing professor evaluations, otherwise my paper would have been late!😱 I turned it in, and I think it was pretty good. I liked my thesis, and found that if I had not started it last night, and had a few more days, I could have written an awesome paper, because I got really into the topic... but oh well.

Pianola, I KNOW you did well, so you will not have to worry!

Good luck everyone and try not to get sick, unless you get sick of food by overstuffing yourself on Thanksgiving!:laugh:

Yeah, I hear ya on that. Without subjects my job gets pretty dull too. I'm lucky enough to have an office though, so I can close the door when I look the least productive (e.g. going on SDN).

It does feel good....I know it's cliche but it felt like a huge weight had been lifted off my shoulders. I was a reapplicant BTW so just imagine how it felt to have a straight up acceptance. The whole summer was spent on the mcat and after that I was just worried about what I'll do if I don't get in...With med school you just don't know you're gonna get in ...until you have an acceptance....Thank God....
 
omg i can't believe it, i just received my first acceptance. i am so happy and relieved at the same time. i can't believe that all my dreams are coming true. it just feels so good. i know that many people are still waiting on interviews and/or acceptances and i want to wish you good luck. the wait is painful, but it feels really good in the end!

my GPA might not be the greatest, same with my MCAT, for my ECs i did what i enjoyed but no publications or saving the world, but i was able to get through how much i wanted to be doctor. how much this means everything to me and i know to many of you still waiting, you feel the same way about medicine but think that your application may not be the best. your message will get through!
