I honestly have no clue what's going on. I know I qualified for a scholarship. (everything is need based at Cornell) but the crazy number that my parents are supposed to contribute will be covered by a federal loan. Cornell is going to help me find one.

It's called the Homan. it has 4% interest and the principal and interest are deferred during school and 3 years of residency. That loan is ~12k


They expect my rents to pay ~34k which is hysterical! So funny I wanna cry... but I guess they are going to help me find a direct loan to cover it.

haha I know... but that's probably because the tuition is so expensive! I'm grateful for what I have. I think it's okay and the financial aid office seems like they are going to take care of me... I just have to keep a watchful eye!

I know, this whole aspect of it is crazy. I was ecstatic that I got a tiny grant + all stafford loans And I definitely am going to be looking at paying off my small (will turn big) amount of undergrad debt along with my med school debt- but I'm on another deferment now and besides, studying abroad was so beyond worth it 😀

yea i wish I had had proper counseling about loans and debt. I was the first person to go to college so I didn't have family to give me advice... and my college really didn't tell me much other than where to sign 🙁
